My annual overreaction that ages well

Description
This team is so mid. We need to retool, but a serious one. We get rid of two pending UFAs then a new forward. Also for the Boeser deal, he has one less year. So they get rid of Beau's deal after next season, opening a few mil in cap (like one lol)
Transactions
1.
NYI
  1. Kyrou, Christian [Liste de réserve]
  2. Choix de 3e ronde en 2024 (DAL)
Détails additionnels:
This really depends on how much Stars fans want to overrate Kyrou. He is a good asset, worth around what he was draft (50 overall). So a 2nd and late 3rd makes sense.
2.
NYI
  1. Comrie, Eric
  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (PHI)
  3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (VGK)
Détails additionnels:
Comrie sucks, Anderson sucks and UPL is not a playoff starter. I dont care if the Islanders give a WC opponent a better goalie, we need to get value for him.
BUF
  1. Varlamov, Semyon (2 500 000 $ retained)
  2. Choix de 6e ronde en 2024 (NYI)
Détails additionnels:
Sabres are my 2nd favorite team and I like it for them as well. Seems like a win-win IMO
3.
NYI
  1. Boeser, Brock (3 325 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Canucks can afford the cap hit and just need a new forward. Boeser has more points but Beau is the better all around player and could be a good asset to the Canucks. I feel like theyll have a big issue with this.
VAN
  1. Beauvillier, Anthony
  2. Maggio, Matthew [Liste de réserve]
  3. Choix de 5e ronde en 2023 (NYI)
Détails additionnels:
Maggio doesnt have all that much value imo. A big difference between him and Dufour, so I would say this even outs.

Stars have zero reason to do that, Mayfield is exactly what we have on RD. He doesn’t improve it to the point of giving up Kyrou for him.

Canucks pass. You want us to retain 50% on Boeser and take on 4 million dollar Beau? 0 reason to do that

I don't think my Sabres are making the playoffs. We can just sign him in the offseason if we choose to

These are all bad for everyone not NYI , however that Vancouver one oooof. Let me see if I am getting it right... You expect Vancouver to retain nearly $10,000,000 and give up 3 years of Boeser while taking on $4,000,000 more in cap of Beauvillier for a guy you said doesn't have much value and a 5 really? Wow this is awful!!

Your ask for Mayfield is reasonable at least. Mostly I see AGM's demanding a mid-1st plus.

Boeser obviously needs a change of scenery and this deal gets him off of the roster. Then they get a top 4 point scorer in the OHL (as a DY+2 but still valuable) and then a late pick as they start the rebuild.

I get it if the retention is too much, but the cap for the canucks in this deal frees up: -1 mil (22-23 season), -1 mil (23-24 season), +3 mil (24-25 )from otherwise not making this deal. This is a year and a half of negative to free up some more for once they get around to the other side of the rebuild. If you would feel better getting down to 2 mil retention or so then sure, but the idea of retention definitely helps this team. Plus, its not like this offseason is going to be a big spending spree for the Canucks, so adding 1 mil in cap for next season doesnt mean much. Plus, Beau makes considerably less than Boeser so he is another asset who can be flipped at the 2024 TDL for solid value. Canucks can double dip instead of sucking it up with Boeser for another 2.5 years.

I really dont think this is all too far off. I dont value Maggio all too high, but he is a solid B-, mid to high upside piece to start a rebuild with. Maggio's profile slots in at a middle six scoring forward with offensive upside with an eta of 2 or so years, perfect to slot in as a cheap asset once the Canucks free up some cap.

Again, if retention goes down to like 2 mil then sure idc, but the idea is very close in value. NHL GMs do not value retention as much as people on here think they do, and history proves that

Detroit got a four for retaining essentially 250k from TB he took on the TDL portion of 1.05 mil of Savard in that trade TB took back A minor leaguer making 750k in the minors named Brian Lashoff whom they loaned to the Griffins. Basically they retained the TDL amount of 255k
255k costs a 4, but 10,000,000 gets that come on now.

They retained a million (250k prorated but technically just over 1 mil against the cap), but I recommend you look at "What‟s An NHL Draft Pick Worth? A Value Pick Chart for the National Hockey League" by St. Lawrence University. A 4th is really not that much.

Plus this is also different since TBL needed that retention and they got a 3rd team. But if its just two teams, one player who is a pending UFA for a draft pick, that retention for 20 games doesnt mean much. Like the retaining team's only leverage is if the retention is necessary

Retention has value, but imo NHL EA Franchise mode as blown people's perspectives on it. Like 25k retention on a 2+ year deal will cost an extra first and second

For one I haven't played an NHL whatever game in 20 years. So, that'has absolutely ZERO to do with my evaluation.
2 it's not 20 games it's 3 years 2+ Boeser is a 20-25 goal 45-55 point guy on pace this year for 60. Is he slightly overpaid a little but this is awful.

Boeser has been said to have virtually no value by many insiders. With retention it goes up, but 3 mil retention doesnt make him go from virtually no value to a big haul.

Patrick Allvin is looking for a new job soon if he pulls a bonehead trade like this. These kind of trades get GM's unemployed. Please provide some links of insiders saying Boeser is worthless. I really need a laugh.
