Brodin is a top 10 d-man in the NHL, according to Wild fans. I'm not sure why or how, but it's important to know who you're trying to get. He's basically untouchable because he's that good. Don't feel bad nothing would be enough for Brodin to Wild fans.

Unless Minnesota goes 8S (and keeps 4 defenseman) they're going to risk losing a good defenseman. Whether it's Dumba or Brodin. I think it's funny he holds all this crazy value and yet there's a good possibility he isn't even protected by Minny. You'd think such a great defenseman would be protected. He's good, a legit top 4 guy, but they clearly need to learn values on players, and also learn that him being exposed and lost for potentially nothing hurts his value as well.

Good, because I don't want to trade Lauzon in a package for Brodin either. The most I would offer for Brodin is:

Vatrano/Spooner + Lindgren + 2017 1st

You're going to lose him for nothing if he's left unexposed. May as well get something for him. This package is too rich though. You're nuts to say "no" haha

Thank God, fans aren't in charge of the teams.

I overpaid because I knew Minny fans would take extreme offence to receiving two exempted players and a first round pick...

Yeah, who cares what Minny fans think at this point on Brodin. If he was this good, they'd protect him with that 3rd spot. Hell, maybe they do, but that leaves Dumba exposed. I think subbing out Lauzon for Lindgren is more than enough for Brodin.

I will be shocked if Brodin isn't protected! He's not a top 10 defenseman, but he is very good.

I don't love this trade - some future average NHLers for a very good player isn't a good return...BUT, IF the Wild are stupid and don't plan on protecting Brodin...and this is the best offer on the table, I would jump on it.

I do not know of any Minnesota fans who think so, but In 3 years he can enter there.

We do not need questionable prospectuses. We only need one, but a sensible young player. For example: Reinhart, Alex Nylander, Puljujärvi, Keller, etc.

They're going to protect Brodin over Dumba?

You're not getting any of those players for Brodin.

Defenseman in the market have long been more expensive attackers. It's time to know about it.

I'm in on Brodin but not at that price. Something like Zboril, Vatrano, #1 for Brodin and Zucker. Two players exp draft exempt and a first for 2 guys left unprotected and it helps them cap wise. Not a trade they'd consider under normal circumstances but given the situation it's a starting point. Probably have to add another player to the mix.

Brodin as a top-10 dman is laughable. That's a true #1D, he's not there (that's his ceiling). He's a solid #3 right now, he just got tasked with the weakest RD's on the team so the 3rd pair wasn't a blackhole. Still needs to improve more in the o-zone, confidence there is the biggest thing he needs. His shot is average, but has really good passing.

Vatrano and Spooner (mentioned elsewhere) don't have any value going to the Wild. Small LWs do nothing for a team already swimming in LW's.

Lauzon falls into the LD group with Olofsson and Reilly that the Wild already have.

18oa isn't that attractive this year.

The overall trade does nothing for the Wild. You're trading to the Wild's two strongest positions of depth. And the Wild still lose another quality NHL player to Vegas for nothing.

I disagree about Brodin's shot - he has a very, very good shot - both wrister and slapper. I was a season ticket holder for the 4 seasons prior to this one (too busy) and have seen Brodin play 140 games or so. One thing is for sure, he needs to shoot the puck more because he has a very hard, very quick, very accurate shot! Not as hard as Dumba or Scandella, but a lot harder than most people think. He became a more assertive offensive player this year and if he can continue on this trajectory, he's going to be an all-around stud, not just a defensive stud. The only think he lacks for a defenseman is a nasty disposition!

That's why I said average. He's not dropping bombs from the backend, and he doesn't have the Suter weak wrister. It's average for a NHL d-man, nothing bad about that. His shot looks a lot better when he's playing his offhand side, more accurate at least. He needs to shoot more often, but he's not a real goal scoring threat from the blueline.

I don't think he'll ever have a nasty disposition. That description covers most of the team, they play small and soft.
