Everyone is guessing what Matthews is doing. Obviously leaf fans think Matthews is signing and Coyote fans think the same. Don't think any ACGM'S know him well enough that he's told them what his future plans are.

I doubt Matthews goes to the Coyotes, but the odds are clearly not zero. But regardless, especially from an ACGM perspective, he either wants to play in AZ or doesn't.
If he does, AZ can wait until he reaches free agency and make their best pitch. They don't need to trade a bunch of futures to bring him in for one year earlier where they are not competitive anyway.
If he doesn't, there is zero point in trading the farm for him to see him walk.
