Description
If Pens do not resign UFA Jarry for any reason, would they be interested in Murray at 4.7m for one season? Of course the lineup also depends on 5.6m staying on LTIR

That's a terrible return for a goalie that's putting up number 1/all star numbers. I'd expect a 1st and prospect back. And yeah Pittsburgh I'm sure is a place he doesn't want to go.

There's a lot of supply for veteran goalies this off season and not much, if any, demand.

Lehner is back next season and will be moved more than likely, Holtby may decide to come back after a year off, and then there are another 45 goalies who are UFAs this coming off season, 20 of which are current starters or backups at the NHL level.

The teams who need a goalie will be in the driver seat as far as price to acquire goes.

Kerfoot also walked into nhl from college and had a really good rookie year. No guarantee but also no reason Knies couldn’t do same thing (he’d be playing with really good players) . He has the size, shot and as long as he can keep up with pace - certainly worth an extended look.

Kerfoot walked in at like 23 or so.

I have high hopes for knies long term, but I just think people have unrealistic expectations. I remember people pencilling in Kadri in the leafs line up 1 or 2 years post draft as a 20 goal scoring 65 point scoring centre. He got there eventually but not at 20.

Id be ecstatic if Knies followed a JT Miller like development curve.

At draft plus 3 (knies next year equivalent) he had 3 g and 6 pts in 30 NHL games
At draft plus 4 he had 10 g and 23 pts in 58 gp

If Knies can put up 20 goals and 50 points with a physical game I think the Leafs are beyond happy.

Oh absolutely. But my point is that's a tall ask for a 21 year old rookie. If he does that at 23 or 24 we should be happy
