Kerfoot also walked into nhl from college and had a really good rookie year. No guarantee but also no reason Knies couldn’t do same thing (he’d be playing with really good players) . He has the size, shot and as long as he can keep up with pace - certainly worth an extended look.
Kerfoot walked in at like 23 or so.
I have high hopes for knies long term, but I just think people have unrealistic expectations. I remember people pencilling in Kadri in the leafs line up 1 or 2 years post draft as a 20 goal scoring 65 point scoring centre. He got there eventually but not at 20.
Id be ecstatic if Knies followed a JT Miller like development curve.
At draft plus 3 (knies next year equivalent) he had 3 g and 6 pts in 30 NHL games
At draft plus 4 he had 10 g and 23 pts in 58 gp
