Description
In hindsight if you look at the connections of the possibilities of the 2016 Draft. *What if the Jets Drafted Jesse Puljujarvi instead of Patrik Laine?... * With Jesse Puljujarvi having the possibility of benefiting production from the Jets deep talented team??... We would still hear talk about The Future Finnipeg Jets when we had Joel Armia, Kristian Vesalainen, Sami Niku, Joona Luoto and then Jesse Puljujarvi.
Now obviously you could say "Well maybe the Jets don't ever get Pierre Luc-Dubois, because Laine was Traded for Dubois. So Puljujarvi would have to be traded for Dubois" but I would respond *that it still would've been a good possibility that "Jets still could've got Puljujarvi and Dubois"...
After almost winning the 2016 Draft and moving up from 6th Pick to the 2nd Pick, while also having *Another 2016 1st rounder(22nd Overall). It was well known within the Jets community and talked about, that Jet's should use that 22nd pick to move to a better pick and have "A Very Deep Draft Year." So to reiterate what I've said *"What if the Jets Drafted Jesse Puljujarvi instead of Patrik Laine"... Puljujarvi was highly expected to go Top 3. After seeing people and experts* drop a player, who is in the Top 4 of a Draft for just having a bit of an attitude. What if the Jets thought Patrik Laine's attitude was a red flag?(maybe why things didn't work out???...) So Jets chose Puljujarvi instead of Laine with the 2nd. Even taking the possibility of the Jets not getting so lucky with the Top 3 and only getting 3rd to Pick Puljujarvi.(where he was highly expected to be drafted.)
Then with the 22nd Overall they actually go for another very deep pick, whether Trading a bigger package for a better pick than 16th Overall or using that 16th Overall to get a Top 5 Pick-7th Pick. After hearing rumors Jets might trade the later 2016 First rounder for a deeper pick, Many Instantly got very disappointed with Picking Stanley 16th Overall. Many had heard that Stanley was hardly sought out and could've got Stanley at 22nd instead of trading a 2nd too just to get a player we could've got at 22nd.*(Maybe why lot's hold subconscious Amimosity towards Stanley. Which I hope Stanley could prove to be worth it.) I also thought it was a waste of a trade, that if we were trading up, we should've put more effort and tried going for a 4th-7th Pick.
And with that 4th-7th Pick, Jets seek out Pierre Luc-Dubois. So Columbus still ends up with Patrik Laine. And in hindsight you could also say Jets still get Dubois at 3rd(Jets needed future C) Or Jesse at 3rd since he was highly considered 3rd. And maybe Oilers didn't have Dubois as highly considered. Since the Oilers were stacked at C with the Future of McDavid, Draistaitl and RNH. And with the Possibilities of teams taking an Interest in D, Van still picks Olli Juolevi. Or even a different High D like Sergachev, Bean, McAvoy or Chychrun.(Which could make things differently interesting.) And Thachuk is still picked at 6th, since Thachuk was regarded as higher than Dubois.
So there is a high Possibility that Jets could've easily gotten Dubois at 5th-7th(even possibly later with deep D.) Picks had Jets made more of an effort to have 2 Really Deep Top 5-7 2016 First Round Picks. So yes, Jets could've had both Pierre-Luc Dubois and Jesse Puljujarvi. Just like they have room to make that happen today. #JessePuljujarviAndFinnipegJets

I seriously believe Winnipeg and Jesse Puljujarvi could be the perfect match, and both could benefit a lot. That's why I had to have fun with the Possibilities of the 2016 Draft... ;)
Believe the Jets and Oilers could make a Puljujarvi trade, I also believed The Jets and CBJ were good trading partners then and sending Jack Roslovic home(I said he was worth more and would get an expected 15-25 goals, exactly what happened.) and making trades for Stenlund. Also Laine for Dubois... *** (Just poking the Bear because people think I make Stupid Trade Ideas) ***
Jets should pay to get Puljujarvi. But if the Asking price is too much, it would probably ruin the possibility(Let's not get too Greedy.)

-

With the Projected set-up of sending Morgan Barron to the AHL, there is a projected $4,167,143 Cap. Swapping Samberg with Heinola would add $61,667, or a Cap space of $4,228,810. In most cases there is around $3.7M- just over $4.0M for the Jets, more than enough to acquire Jesse Puljujarvi's $3.0M without having the problem of having to move Cap Space. So yes, Jet's should pay to get Puljujarvi.

I suggest sending Barron to the AHL, ONLY because his Waivers Exemption is very valuable. He still has 14 games(Jan. 8th unless scratched.) Waivers Exempt and could save a Depth player(Waivers) for the Jets. Barron could get top line minutes, top special teams minutes with a good Moose team to play with and build his game and abilities. Could also help the Moose and gain chemistry with Future Jets. I also suggest swapping out Samberg and Heinola(Samberg can swap back.) Since Samberg still has 38 games Waivers exempt and could give Heinola some good looks to build his game within the Jets new system. Use the Waivers Exempt advantage while it's there. Now could be the best time to make a move !!!

Initially before moving a spot for Puljujarvi, I mostly took more focus on the RFA's over UFA's (UFA's could still be in the Lineup Due to Injuries).
Stenlund was called up, and could spend 9 to now 28 days on the Roster but I think he should be sent down mainly for asset management, so that he can make room for a UFA like Maenalanen or Gagner(If he isn't traded). But if we lose a spot on the right side, we might need a physical 6'4 210 right handed RW/C, exactly what Stenlund is. Because we are weaker on the RW.
I added Gagner to the Trade because we would have to drop a RFA. Which would be AJ-F, Essyimont or Capobianco.(Capo would be my choice) And already explained more focus on the importance of RFA's over UFA's.
Sam Gagner was also Drafted 6th Overall in the 2007 Draft by the Oilers. Gagner spent 2007-08 to 2013-14 and 2019-20 with the Oilers. And still hear good things from OIlers fans about Sam Gagner. Also might be special to see and possibly play with McDavid and Draisaitl.

4 Penalties vs Panthers there was 178:33(178.55) for Forwards. And 114:54(114.9) for the D. = 293:27 Team Total time.
3 Penalties vs Ducks there was 177:19(177.317) for Forwards. And 116:41(116.683) for the D. = 294:00 Team Total time.
2 Penalties vs CHI there was 179:54(179.9) for Forwards. And 116:27(116.45) for the D. = 296:21 Team Total time.
Based on near time averages I use 178 min for Forwards, and 116 min for D. Which is 294:00 Total time. (11-7?)

Obviously I understand the stuggles Puljujarvi is going through and that he's probably only a 3rd liner. I put Puljujarvi on the 1st line to give him a better opportunity to rejuvenate his skills and confidence. Giving Puljujarvi a 2nd chance.
And that at least 90% of the time this would probably be the most reliable and consistent lineup;
Connor-Dubois-Ehlers/*Puljujarvi
(19 min)(18 min)(11 min)/*(7 min) **(Which would be every 3rd shift. If Puljujarvi isn't playing up to par, others will get his opportunities.)
Perfetti-Scheifele-Wheeler
(16 min)(19 min)(16 min)
AJF-Lowry-Appleton
(11 min)(15 min)(13 min)
Harkins-Eyssimont-Puljujarvi/*Ehlers ***(Ehlers would add a lot of talent, speed and ability to the bottom 6. Making more entries and his play making abilities, The Bottom 6 Would Benefit from having Ehlers.
(11 min)(9 min)(5 min)/*(7 min) - Which would also help the Line-up Transitions and the Affect on the Game with so many Strong players to rely on at any time of the Game.)

I spent too much time over the Past week in this situation and ignored other important things in my life. I tried my Best... Peace out for a couple months... #TrueNorth #FuelledByPassion #WeAreWinnipeg

Puljujarvi @ $3,000,000 x 1 **(Or 2 years? With a good opportunity to build with?)
Berdin @ $787,500 x 1
Samberg, Stanley, Barron, Stenlund @ $775,000(1 year) x 4
= $6,887,500 - $16,041,309
= $9,154,000 (OR $12,154,000) Cap Space to sign Dubois
Then, sign Dubois @ $8,875,000 x 2 Years
*Or $9,150,000 x 3 Years* (Which would Equal $550,000 more for the first 2 years and still be able to ask for a very high 7 Year Contract. As Dubois will only be 28 years old and 34/35 when the 7th Year Contract is up.)
Trading Dillon, DeMelo or Schmidt could also open up money to pay Dubois 5-8 year Contracts. Because currently we probably could only afford to give Dubois 2-3 year contracts at most.
***Unless The Cap Raises an Extra $2.0M- $3.0M and don't have to worry about any possible problems.***

I Could see Pulji being a good fit in WPG and Gagner needs to play playoff hockey for Edmonton for the sake of poetic moments. i think edmonton would do gags for pulji 1 for 1

I think this is the the third or fourth time a similar overpay has been proposed for Puljujarvi and it's still a very easy no for Winnipeg.

Edmonton tried in the summer to trade JP straight up for a 2nd and had no takers. So, there is no chance the Jets are going to offer that 2nd now along with a better player and another pick.

Puljujarvi simply isn't worth 3 assets no matter how minor they seem.

If the Jets drafted Puljujarvi instead of Laine they don't have the succes they do or make it to the Western Conference final.

The real ****up at the 2016 draft was that awful trade to move up four spots and then taking Stanley with the selection, look at some of the guys taken after, some pretty good talent even in round two.

Imagine if they keep the 22nd pick and the 36th pick and hit on one or both of those picks on top of taking Laine 2nd, could've drastically changed the outlook of the organization, who knows if they would've been given much of a chance though.

(Dec. 12) Also forgot to mention that Sam Gagner has played in 991 NHL games. If Sam Gagner is traded to the Oilers, the Oilers could celebrate Sam Gagner's 1000 Games in the NHL. Who the Oilers drafted 6th Overall in the 2007 NHL Draft.
If Sam Gagner is not Healthy Scratched, he would reach his 1000th NHL game on **December 29.* Could also be Healthy Scratched for just 1 game and play his 1000th NHL Game on New Years Eve. wink
