That tandem was awful the last 2 years. So inconsistent. Let in one soft goal a game, at least.

Caps management had to do something this past offseason after 2 sub-par goaltending years.

Even though it's been a small sample size, both goalies have looked good on their new teams. This offseason I was shocked that they moved on from both. Although, they couldn't trust either so it makes sense. I just thought they'd keep one as a backup

What’s your point

Doesn’t make any sense why we didn’t trade Sammy. Don’t understand why we let him go for free.

Vinecek as well, should have kept both and you had Lindgren in the system

Ok but that's different, he was 31 years old when the Leafs let him go. Even at the end of the day, he didn't help the Canes in the playoffs

We signed Lindgren this year in fa. And we traded Vivek to move up a lot of spots to get Chesley

Samsonov had a QO of over 2m I believe and Vanecek if was going ot be the number 1, warranted the classic 3x3m 1st time full time starter contract.
it would have been 5m+ to run back the same tandem that wasnt working for them.

assume Samsonov market was next to none based on his numbers and having to QO him for that amount.

lolol literally everything you said is wrong here. Got a good laugh though!

Vitek was traded and Caps got Chesley for it, who seems to be a solid RHD prospect. He would have cost the Caps too much (based on his inconsistent play).

Lindgren was on the Blues last year and was signed as a FA over the summer.

Both goalies stunk for the Caps. Both were inconsistent, let in soft goals (at least once a game), and could not be trusted. You should do some research before you try to "dunk" on another team...especially coming from a fan of the Leafs, who seemingly will never get out of the first round and currently have the longest stanley cup drought between championships (48 seasons to remind you) lol
