For the first time in a decade, NJD won't have a 1st round pick (unless we get one back somehow).

Has anyone given thought to what we ought to do with the 2nd rounder? or later picks? Other than just taking best players available, these are the holes I'd like to fill in pipeline:

1. Some size up the middle. Future big 3C that can play well defensively and hold his own in both transition and dirty areas. Samu Salminen may be the best current internal option. Patrick Moynihan (who is now in transfer protocol) is longshot for that role. Zakhar Bardakov could be an option too, but not much offense. Jaromir Pytlik appears to be a lost cause at this point.

2. Another goalie. Blackwood may be done in NJ after this year and while Daws and Schmid appear to be on track, Malek, Brennan and Brady aren't locks to even get NHL contracts. I think we need one more option to develop in-house.

3. Possession winger. We have seen how the league is changing and NJD likely at forefront of league based on transition, speed, possession. It sounds like there could be a few options in late 2nd that fit, but don't have the counting stats to go higher. In short, a Tatar junior. Adam Sykora comes to mind at that draft spot last year.

4. Stay-at-home defensive dman. Preferably "long and mobile"

I dont see Fitzy taking a goalie in the 2nd round considering this isnt a terribly good draft for them. More than likely he fills the holes in Utica with whatever position seems to need it most (Center, Defenseman)

Think its pretty safe to assume that after what happened tonight (hurricanes losing,rags winning) that Thursdays game is a must win for us, we cannot fall behind the rags this late in the season with the division title still very much within reach. Hope Lindy has a great gameplan.

I honestly dont mind if we get 3rd in the division since we're really good on the road and basically a Devils-Rangers game at the rock is basically 50/50 split of fans

What the deal with Sharangovich? He's a player I really admire but as an outsider looking in, it looks like he's fallen out of favour. Hasn't been getting a ton of ice time and is stuck on the 4th line. Considering the Leafs are probably losing Bunting, there is going to be a hole at 1LW. Would Sharangovich be available? What might he cost? The whole situation seems so weird. As someone who doesn't watch a ton of Devils hockey, I always thought of Sharangovich as a very solid middle 6 winger

He's an odd one to pin down, he has the capability of being a 20 goal scorer but he is very inconsistent, he goes weeks sometimes without a goal or an assist then he'll go on a small run and score a few goals over a few games. He is pretty valuable when it comes to the penalty kill so its really hard to determine what his value would actually be, he has a low QO so a cash strapped team might be a little more desperate and offer up a good prospect and maybe a 2nd. As far as whether he's available. ..who knows, depends on the trade offer i guess

-- Arseni Gritsyuk: MacKinnon has said he will spend at least one more year in KHL...question will be if they sign him and loan back like they did with Mukhamadullin
-- Daniil Misyul: deal is up, but unlikely ready...I'd expect he extends in KHL for two years
-- Nikola Pasic: deal is up and NJD rights also expire on June 1st...has played well enough in Sweden's 2nd tier this year that he may get at least an AHL offer
-- Yegor Zaitsev: Deal is up but unlikely he ever comes over

-- Zakhar Bardakov: Has one year remaining on KHL contract with SKA and good chance he seeks deal to come to NA in summer 2024.

-- Cole Brady: This year, was back-up to Luke Pavicich, who is transfering to Mass-Lowell. (3rd stringer, Henry Graham is also in transfer Portal). He will have to battle David Fessenden (transfer from UNH) for starter's gig. Can use 5th year if needed. Good one to keep an eye on.
-- Artem Shlaine: Had a great first year at Northern Michigan and probably enters next season as their 1C. Stick skills are amazing, but overall game will require a stint in AHL.
