That'll get you Gostisbehere (a bit of an overpay even) but it'll take a whole lot better offer than that for Chychrun alone. The price is 2 firsts and a good young player or top prospect.

And just like that, this post explains why people dislike Toronto.

This offer is junk and Arizona would hang up phone, laugh and appreciate the joke. And they are a NHL franchise that currently plays in a 5000 seat arena.

"And just like" that every single fanbase has people like that not just Toronto. Also if this explains why people dislike Toronto, they are kind of dumb no?

Should have also said that is not all Toronto fan base, sorry. But of late all trades that tend to be really out there deal with 3 fanbases, Toronto, Montreal and Canucks. But it does encapsulate the average fan who over values his own players and they can be traded for better players. So yes it is not only Leaf fans, but when over a period of time where it has been explained on numerous times that Arizona wants, a 1st, in 2023, a good young player playing in the NHL and Top prospect and some Leaf fan throws out there Holland Engvall and some picks and then expects to get not only the top player on most trade lists but another player playing well, it makes you fan base look bad.

Probably not but, I will never under estimate the avg. GM over paying when in trouble. And right now Dubas is in trouble. He has put together a very good if not and excellent team, but as time has gone on, the mistakes of overpaying players and having 3 players making over 10 million all forwards and neglecting the defense, goalie and the remaining lineup and bottom 6 will be the downfall. If you look at the teams tha tha e won the cup, have had balanced cap between forwards, defense and goalie, positions. Tampa and Colorado had great forwards, good bottom 6 forwards who could hold their own, and could contribute, good top 4 defense and a good to great goalie. Toronto has two great top lines and avg to below bottom 6 forwards, to very good defenseman and avg or below avg goaltending.

There also another aspect to look about winning cup Stanley team. They have excellent veterans who is important to the team and yet take LESS salary to stay competitive. Ask MacKinnon and Bergeron about that, they took less money to have a better surroundings team where Toronto they have greed for money and stuck with having a 5 player team.

Yup, they don't overpay for anyone. Put it this way which would you rather have Mitch Marner at 10.9 mil AAV or Nikita Kucherov at 9.5 mil AVV?

Pretty much everyone but the most delusional Leafs fans would choose Kucherov... In fact most would still choose Kucherov if the AAVs were identical.

That the hard thing to do choose between because they are not the same playstyle. One is physical and more sniper other is more finess and playmaker.

Leafs don't have a bad team but if the core group would have accept less money they would probably be in better shape right now.

Remove between 1.5 to 3m to each of Marner, Matthews, Tavares and Nylander and you could have keep Hyman and probably Kadri into the mix or add another defensemen like Reilly into the team.
