You don't "win now" by making terrible trades though. Chychrun is good but he's another offensive defenseman, not something Edmonton really needs. The other guys are just meh, they are moving the needle at all. So you wasted the future for a slight improvement in Cup chance now, it's just dumb asset management.
Holland built a team in Detroit that was a contender for 10 years or more, and that's what he's doing in Edmonton too. He won't trade a bunch of high end future assets for a very tiny improvement in today's roster, because it's bad business.
