While X-Man is likely to turn out a solid NHL middle 6er in 2-3 years, Lavoie is almost certainly of no interest at all from the Blues and not including a 23 1st (or reasonable fascimile) when you ask for Tarasenko with retention is basically a de facto concession that you're not getting him.

Canucks pass easily. Not taking on two cap dumps while also giving up two cheap, valuable players without getting valuable pieces back

You may be right, but they are both at the end of their contracts and become UFAs at the end of the season, so the Canucks could lose them both for nothing. I think this is actually a huge overpay for 2 rentals.

While Barrie doesn't fit Edmonton's needs and someone may be able to take over his scoring (Bouchard and Nurse), he is still a very valuable player in the NHL on a decent contract. In the past 3 seasons, he ranks 10th among D in scoring. Of D with over 1500 minutes played in the last 3 seasons, he ranks 6th at Pts/60.

1 Cale Makar 2.6
2 Roman Josi 2.31
3 Adam Fox 2.3
4 Victor Hedman 2.22
5 John Carlson 2.21
6 Tyson Barrie 2.1
7 Quinn Hughes 2.1

If this is a huge overpay, canucks will just keep schenn and kuzmenko
barrie and foegele are negative assets for the canucks, barrie may be a good offensive d man but that's not something the nucks need especially with that contract

I mean, lowering retention is always good, but there's still too much clutter. Lavoie. Kemp and the 4th don;t really add much. Remove the clutter, so it's X + 23 1st for Tarasenko gently retained - and from there, I think you're still a bit light. Remember, you would likely need to fend off competition from multiple teams (if not a proper gaggle). And if the Blues are over their struggles and back in the contending mix, you're even more short.

So... better, but presumably still not there.

Barrie was the first defenceman to lead to the league in defenceman points and not receive a single norris vote. It is pretty clear he carries no value whats so ever. He is a mcdavid and drasaitl merchant.

How is dumping two negative assets a huge overpay? Yamamoto isn’t even valuable enough to offset the negative value, and you still haven’t paid for Schenn or Kuzmenko

Pretty easy to get points when you’re passing to McDavid and Draisaitl

So then why aren't all Oilers defensemen averaging 57 points per 82 games? Pretty phenomenal how stupid your take is.

What do you think they're getting for 2 expiring contracts? Schenn is 33 and probably close to retiring and has been a bottom-pairing guy most of his career. They'll be lucky to get a 5th round pick for him. Kuzmenko is still unproven, but they might get a 2nd for him. Most teams would rather have Yamamoto than a 2nd. Also, these aren't players with contracts that are massive overpays. Feogele at 2.75 is reasonable, Yamamoto at 3 is reasonable, Barrie at 4.5 is reasonable, and Ryan at 1.25 is a good contract. Yamamoto, Ryan, and Barrie are also west coast kids so there is a good chance of re-signing them down the road if they wish, possibly to hometown-friendly contracts.

You know what else is phenominal? The fact that you don't actually have anything to back up your statements. If Barrie is so good, why did he get 0 Norris votes despite leading the league in points a couple years ago? Maybe because people aren't blind and can see he is not that great of a player.

Ok, now tell me how Vancouver even fits that under the cap. Canucks don't have 11 million dollars lying around for Barrie Foegele, Yamo, and Ryan. Another low effort post with low effort response. Colour me shocked. You clearly did not think about whether or not this trade could physically happen

There are plenty of news outlets reporting about what the Canucks might be doing with Horvat and Miller. Miller is signed to a new contract next season but there are rumours the canucks may trade him before the new more expensive contract kicks in. It is currently $5.25M. Horvat's is $5.5M. That's $10.75M that may be coming off. They'll likely get a lot for those two players in futures and some close-to-breakout type players. If they decide to go rebuild, now is the time. They could start their rebuild with around three 1st round, two 2nd round, two 3rd round, two 4th round picks and a couple solid young cheap cost controlled high profile players. And what's with all the anger? Relax dude. It's just a hobby forum.
