Haha, I was thinking more a star winger as opposed to a 3rd liner. Like a Meier or someone like that. If they couldn't swing something along those lines I would be fine with this deal.

If NJ would actually be okay with the value for the initial mock trade then, they probably would be fine with taking on Engvall but I think it would be more along the lines of:
Severson + a late pick for 2023 1st+Engvall+ a prospect, Engvall probably doesn't have too much value at this time so NJ wouldn't be adding for him in particular but maybe they wouldn't mind taking him on and moving out Johnsson in a trade for a guy like Meier. NJ probably wouldn't want Holl since they could instead call up a RD prospect, and the Leafs would probably still want him even if it's as the 6th or 7th defender.

There's a big difference playing in the AHL, Compared to the NHL. His back couldn't even handle bottom pairing LD minutes.

If we are not extending Severson...and are out of playoffs by deadline...this is probably close to the deal I'd expect.

Swapping Severson for an established forward in a 'hockey trade' was probably more likely in off-season.

I think Knies would also work instead of the picks.

The way he's played you would be lucky to get a 7th. He plays like he's 5'5 and 160 pounds, has ZERO intensity and is the perfect example of what a role player shouldn't be.
