Lol, would be a mistake to pay him that much. Either 8mx8 like Hughes or under or slightly above if it can't be helped. 9-9.3m max if he ends up the top scorer on the team and among the top at the end of the year.

In line with other recent signed Wingers, I'd guess 8*8, give or take 1/2 mil. I don't see JB getting top dollar Winger deals, like Kucherov ... But who knows, only takes one GM.

Lol, I didn't "decipher" the acronym until now, I probably just saw (JB), (PIT), and (NHL) as a unit and ITB as some random letters. It all makes complete sense now, lol. I did see that he was leading scorer with Panarin and Pastrnak, so I thought the idea was that he gets paid like Panarin did or how Pastrnak could if he tests free agency. I just wasn't 100% sure that it was a joke until now.

"Now that it is official…he gets paid like it" I took this as meaning him being a proven PPG+ player as official and not the intended meaning of him being officially "the best player in the NHL".

Once you lead the league in scoring, even for a day, you officially become best player in the league (*if you are Jesper Bratt).

If his name was Pratt, Panarin would be the league leader, and he would be 3rd behind Pastrnak. So, I guess if he can be the league leader by name, he can also be the best player by name.

I can see now why Justin Abdelkader and Pontus Aberg were so overvalued.

The analysts are always talking about those intangibles, and how Player X is valuable to his team because of them. Now I never heard anyone specifically talk about namesake, but it is in fact an intangible.

Well not necessarily true. It's only when Player A still is similar to Player X, that you would perhaps prefer A over X, because A is A.
