This team is too good on paper to be bad ongoing. It would shock me if they aren't a playoff spot this year. I doubt the tank happens!

The defense isn’t good enough and the goaltending has arguably been the worst in the league so far. The only thing that’ll keep this team above water is the fact that they can put up 4-5 goals on any given night.

Their defence on paper is pretty good and as is their goaltending. It's a bad start. Letting in 5 goals every game is not sustainable. This team is very good on paper (which doesn't always translate but often does). Give it more time. The team can score ALOT and their defence and goaltending isn't as bad as it has shown so far.

Even if Detroit should make the playoffs this season they're not going to win anything. There's no way Yzerman is going to pay a 2nd round pick for a player that won't be here more than a few weeks.
