tears of joy Yep we know that I'm definitely being closer to realistic even if not overly so. Of course we can do a trade involving Macdermid if you really want him that badly.

I don’t think we have any interest in Girard at all

Terry is pretty much untouchable

This is an absolute abysmal deal for the Ducks man

Ducks aren’t trying to compete this season, they have zellwegger (who could be better than Girard) and Mintyukov has looked like a top 5 pick so far. There’s no reason for Anaheim to do this

Untouchable he might be, and I wouldn't say abysmal. Certainly way closer than Terry for MacKinnon.

That's fair comment. I'll be honest and confess I have little knowledge of how the Ducks are shaping up on the back end, especially the prospects, other than they looked to be aging there and Girard looked like a good fit for a team going into something of a re-tool/re-build.

Horrible trade for ANA. And absolutely no reason for them to fix their blue line as of now.

No. Just no. Besides if there is anything ANA blue line needs, it is size and physicality. Girard isn't that...

Troy Terry is not only the best player in this proposed exchange, he's also the most valuable because he's under team control for at least two more seasons, so Anaheim respectfully says No.

Fair comment, and I wouldn't disagree on the former, though I'd say the latter part is somewhat negated by Girard being cost controlled for 5.

Terry is coming off a 37 goal season, which alone is massively valuable. Now multiply that by him having a cap hit below 1.5 million, and exiting that contract under RFA control. You don't pick up a teams leading scorer, with a middle six UFA winger that no one else wanted to sign in the offseason, and turning Kulikov into Girard.

As mentioned above, the Ducks have 2-3 potential copies of Girard in their system, and our Defense has been suffering from a lack of defensive D men, which you are taking probably the best one we have in this deal (yes, I'm aware of how bad it sounds that our best defensive D is a guy Minnesota gave us for free).

Value wise, you'd need to throw in you 2023 1st, Olausson, and Kaut just to get Verbeek not to hang up the phone on you. Girard is an excellent player, but of all the players you have on your roster, he is around the bottom of our wish/needs list, and we don't have cap issues that make Girard's contract more appealing.

I'd say you're overvaluing on adding Olausson, Kaut and a '23 1st but I do take your other points.

I'd look at it as adjusting value. Girard is less valuable to the Ducks than to almost any other team in the league due to factors mentioned above. Terry on the other hand was tied for 20th in the league for goals last season with Hintz, Nelson, and Aho, who all have substantially higher cap hits. The only other players league wide that scored over 30 goals last season that had a salary in the same solar system as Terry were Tage Thompson from Buffalo, and Ryan Hartman from Minnesota. Even knowing we have to pay him next season, the only right shot replacements available on the UFA market this year are Pastranak and Tarasenko. We can resign Terry for 7 mil, it'll cost 10+ to get either of them.

Given that, AND clearing up 3.5 million in cap space which you can use at the TDL to pick up someone to go on a cup run with, Colorado is adding heavily to your original proposal to balance the scales. If you don't believe me, go ask Buf or Min fans what it would take to get Thompson or Hartman.
