TOR
  1. Gawanke, Leon
  2. Heinola, Ville
Détails additionnels:
Heinola and Sandin are damn near the same player, so as a 1 for 1 deal doesn't work; albeit Sandin maybe slightly more refined right now. Argument Sandin pushes for top 4 minutes as a Jet depending on how Bowness constructs the blueline...... but still, the players are strikingly similar.

But, using Kerfoot to upgrade the Jets top 9 for Gawanke just maybe the grease on the wheel to make a smart flip.
WPG
  1. Kerfoot, Alexander
  2. Sandin, Rasmus [Droits de RFA]
Détails additionnels:
I feel like something is missing from the Jets, but will leave this as is given the $$$ involved.

As mentioned above, Jets do get an upgrade in the top 9 and Sandin is more developed than Heinola (but they are soooooooo similar).

If they're practically the same why trade one still on his elc, and in camp, for one holding out and not in camp?

Winnepeg's top 9, counting Gawanke, DMen have 6 LHD and 3 RHD. Trading a LHD, waiver exempt, and a RHD, not waiver exempt, leaves Sandin battling for the 3rd RHD spot. A place he doesn't want to be in Toronto. If Sandin is holding out for money that also leaves Winnepeg over the cap with the addition of Kerfoot.

I can't see Winnipeg voluntarily overpaying for an LD they have no use for and a rental. Make it a 4th for Kerfoot and you're good.

I think Sandin's holdout is more about roll and ice time than money.

Given the comparable out there, not many teams are going north of $1.5 million right now. He had the game for sure, but to get paid, you need to demonstrate it.

The move from the Jets perspective does upgrade the top 9 (and it needs something). See that as part of the reason why a Heinola for Sandin flip may (and I stress may) work.

Not a perfect idea, but an idea.

I like it for the Leafs just for cap reasons....and it helps Winnipeg immediately with signed Sandin (who Jets can afford). By the way, Sandin in not a holdout.....he just hasn't signed with any professional team in the world...maybe teams are holding out signing him.
IMO Kerfoot's lack of trade this seasons has to do with M NTC, which probably includes teams with cap.

Kerfoot's not being dealt at this point may have more to do with fit as well. As it sits for me - the Jets and Minny are the only two real options, maybe the Flames in a larger deal. Been that way for a while too.

Right now, Holl's market maybe better, but not the guy I would want to move.
