At this point Nisk and Orpik are salary dumps at best. Highly doubt Toronto makes that deal, they'll get their dmen in other ways.

As a leafs fan, I would be satisfied with that trade.

I think a deal could be made with Toronto regarding both Niskanen and Orpik but I don't think you'll get Brown or Hyman, maybe a Soshnikov and Rychel?

not even being mean but i assume you dnt watch any caps games....nisk is maybe their best dman this year also he would be a top pairing guy on half the nhl teams currently ...hes signed for 4 more years at a descent contract for his talent level

i said hyman just bc leafs need dmen to be a serious contender and this speeds up the process. by the time matthews needs a new deal orpik will be gone...hyman is a small price for a top pairing rhd

For whatever reason, the Leafs seem to be super high on Hyman. If Niskanen is in fact a top pairing RHD, and that's what Toronto is looking for, but you're then going to make a deal for Vatanen, I hate to say this, but why wouldn't the Leafs cut out the middle man and just make a deal for Vatanen? I hate myself for bringing it up, just because every Toronto trade on here is them stealing one of Vatanen or Manson because EXPANSION DRAFT!!!!!!! But really, if Lou made a legitimate offer for Vatanen, they'd be getting stronger while not giving cap relief to a conference rival who they could well see in the playoffs again next season.

bc vat would cost you jvr type player that you may not wanna get rid of.....in this deal you get two dmen that solve the issue you currently have for little cost

pal Hal posted this trade on here months ago and I absolutely loved it for both sides. caps get much needed cap relief by dumping orpiks contract, and leafs get a top pairing D in niskanen

I do get that it's not a bad deal for the Leafs. I just don't see them jumping at the opportunity to solve cap issues for the Caps.
