Description
Ok... so I know ALL these trades happening probably isn't realistic. Frankly, I'd be happy with just bringing in 2 defensemen..........
Boyle was the only UFA I went after, & I overpaid him quite a bit to come here. If we aren't in the playoffs, we can trade him to a contender, and if he won't sign here we can use Larsson or Girgensons at 4C...
Might have to add to some of these trades,
but I think the basic framework is there to make a deal.....

The forward moves take advantage of teams who have expansion issues, same as the defense moves do.....

The trades at forward let guys like Carrier, Bailey & Baptiste really develop their games for 1 more year in Rochester before they join the roster next year... Weber & Brennan brought back to help the defense in Rochester

Good job, you obviously no the organization well and put a lot of thought into it! IMO, I dont think 2 seconds and 2 B prospects get you Jonas Brodin and there are probably better and cheaper RW options than Rick Nash (maybe if NYR would retain a couple million). Your D still kind of sucks though.
And yes 4mil for Boyle is a bit much!

So Nashville trades a 50 point/ 25-30g player for a player who is 21 and unproven on the AHL level (38games 12 points), former 4th round pick.
I know it is only for a year of Neal but common you can do better than that (Andrew Shaw fetched a 2nd rounder...)

1 year of Milan Lucic cost the Kings: Colin Miller, Martin Jones and a first round pick
Even if you would throw in a first, Nashville would rather pay to not pick one of their forwards...

-BUF will not get Manson even though the value might be right. They will move Fowler or Vatanen before moving Manson to solve their expansion issue. A 7th round pick doesn't get you Brenan.
-Contrary to popular belief, NSH doesn't have expansion issues, they will allow Scissons, Wilson, or Smith to be taken by Vegas especially if they win the CUP. They won't care
-Pommenville is not waiving his NMC to go to BUF neither is Nash

"You see, there is this thing called the expansion draft"
-Just because there's an expansion draft doesn't mean teams are just going to give assets away for cheap because then the lose ANOTHER ASSET still to Vegas.
-You're implying you've taken it into account but realistically you haven't. Vegas isn't going to take a bad contract like Moulson for two 3rds when this team would have to have gone 8-1 to protect the assets you traded for which would look something like: Protected (O'Reilly, Okposo, Nash, Pomenville, Risto, Manson, Brodin,McCabe) makeing Kane, Neal, Ennis, Girgensons, Foligno, Larsson, Neil, Brenan all available to Vegas. Vegas would instantly laugh and say no thank you to your two 3rds and take Kane.

If you haven't noticed, Vegas are signing UFAs. There is reason their commitment in draft is 30 player and a 43m "cap", they can top their cap via trade or UFAs. So many posts with Vegas taking cap dumps. LOL.
Same with the Gorges deal. Just because Coyotes have cap space doesn't mean they want to pay for non. perfomers..

Scarbrow: Well stated on this false rumour that " teams will lose a good player, , so they HAVE to trade or lose them for nothing"

Wild trade 2 NHL players for scratch-offs?

Pommer isn't really a cap dump if the Wild are retaining $1m on him, he's still a 2/3RW depending.

So Nelson+Estephan for Pommer and 2@2nds for Brodin?

Pominville doesn't have a full NMC. He has a 10-team NTC in the 17-18 season. I don't remember him saying anything negative about playing in Buffalo so it's not unreasonable that Buffalo isn't on that 10-team list.

Additionally, Pommer's $5.6m salary may be the difference between signing Granlund and Nino or having to let one of them walk, so in that case he's a cap dump.

You obviously aren't familiar with Fasching

I'd GLADLY give u a 2nd round pick instead of a good prospect if that's what u prefer

I said said Shaw fetched a 2nd rounder, this was in no way a statement that Neal is as bad as Shaw...
Neal has a really important role on this Nsh team, i think it would need more than Fasching to trade him

    Quoting: grovercleveland
You see, there is this thing called the expansion draft...

Nsh protects: Johansen, Forsberg, Arvidsson, Neal, Josi, Ellis, Subban, Ekholm
-> exposed: Jarnkrok, Smith, Wilson, Sissons,...
    Vegas takes probably Jarnkrok
    So there are 3 scenarios:
    1) Vegas takes Jarnkrok
    2) Vegas takes one of Wilson/ Smith and receives a 2nd rounder (or something else)
    3) Vegas takes Wilson/ Smith, on top of that Neal gets traded for Fasching
    2>1>>3

Same with Minnesota, etc. You have to pay almost the full price to get a player, because the teams will lose an asset in the expansion draft anyway. How do people not see that?
