Haha, wow - the tables have turned! By that logic, Montreal should trade Mailloux and get some draft picks back because of the situation.

Real issue here is this. If Logan Mallioux does make it and he ends up being a great player then I think most people will shut up about it. But if he’s not good the Canadians will be criticized about this pick for decades. Personally I’d like to stay away from guys with massive character issues. Especially if they have criminal intent. But the reality is if a guy is a generational talent nobody will **** what he does off the ice. It sucks but that’s the reality.

Others leagues are acting more severely (Somewhat) on those cases but the NHL is in a position where, on a business standpoint, it cannot start suspending some of it's star players for extended periods of time because of the scarcity of these said players. Thus why the league has barely any substance abuse protocol, anything non performance enhancing is basically allowed, sending a bad example for kids following these types of stories, therefore Kuznetsov being suspended 4 years in worlds and 0 games in the NHL.

Even if he is good the pick will be criticized... You cannot award what Mailloux did and that is exactly what MTL did when they chose him in THE FIRST ROUND! Mailloux knew what he was doing was wrong and now he is suffering the consequences of his actions... Shame MTL threw a pick away but that is what they did...

It is a shame how the NHL has handled certain situations (Kuznetsov, Kyle Beach situation, etc.) but they cannot stand down in the Mailloux situation. Mailloux was awarded by MTL by selecting him in the 1st round (and the league must show that they will not allow for young players to commit such mistakes, and that they are not acceptable under any circumstance!)

Oh yeah, the league messed up on a bunch of cases but because it's Montreal let's start to crack it down. Hell, Virtanen just got a PTO but let's crack down the Logan case.
