If you are paying more than $5 million/year for a Dman then he is playing on your PP. Russell is most effective as #4 or 5 Dman. If he gets $4 mill/ season for more than 3 years he will be extremely happy. I expect someone to sign him for 3 or 4 years for around $4-4.5 million/ year. Maybe Colorado or NJ signs him, maybe Calgary gets him for around $3.5/year.

I agree with you 100%, I would only bring him back if it is max 2 yrs at $2.75 million/year. He is a warrior, but he blocks shots because he can't move the puck, I equate him to a punter with a 20 yard average.....but someone else will sign him for more.

Kris Russell, i think, is one of the most underrated players in the game. He blocks shots all the time. also, he moves the puck and does all that a defenseman needs to do.
