Jake Evans and Wideman are assets that have no interest to LA at all.

First off, the Kings have plenty of young forwards they are trying to break into the roster. They don't need to add 1.7mil cap on Jake Evans to that mix

On top of that, the reason LA would be comfortable trading Durzi is because of our excess of RD. We wouldn't want to bring one back in. Wideman does nothing for us and likely falls behind even Spence in the depth chart.

No thanks from LA, though it is nice to see something with a 1st in it. Even if it is a late 1st.

To which I will only add, on an affirmative note, we wouldn't be trading Durzi unless we were addressing our need for a prime LhD. Kaiden Guhle is literally the only prospect or player on your roster who I think would interest us.

Stop trying to make Durzi to Montreal happen, the player that we would have loved was Romanov and you've already moved him.

I would love Durzi in MTL but we don't have a single piece that we are willing to part with that would entice LA to send him to us.

Don't think Durzi would fetch a 13th overall pick by himself anyways.

Durzi is promising and had a decent season, but I fail to see how he can command such a package right now.

A young team like the Habs is better off banking on their own prospects

Wait. You wanted Romanov? If you like Romanov, you would LOVE Edmundson. Don't really want to trade him, but how about Eddy & Florida 2023 1st for Durzi?

Appreciate your perspective. Our prospects at RHD are poor with a Toolsi guy like Mailloux being touted as our best hope at a top pair defender when by all accounts he might never make the NHL (Though my fellow Habs fans seem immune to all logic on this player).

The Habs need to find a way to trade for a young RHD who can grow with this team, because even if they draft a great RHD next draft, he's still gonna be 3-5 years from being an effective defender at the NHL level and they need good RHD as of 2024. A 25 year old Durzi along with Barron seems like a good pair even if neither of them are top pair defenders on an elite team.

I don't think they have to rush anything to get that RHD. Once they're competitive, they can move that 2026 CGY 1st for one.

In the meantime, hope Barron and Mailloux are big deals

The Kings are looking for a young top-4 LD who can play both defensive and offensive, his partner will likely be stay-at-home Matt Roy but they will need to eat about 18-20 minutes a night. The Kings would over pay for this player, players fitting the type they are looking for is someone like Chychrun. The Canadiens don't have someone with that potential upside currently playing for them in this role.

The Kings have the prospects and picks to find this player and they will wait until they either develop one themselves or find the right fit like they did for Fiala (trading an area of strength, RD depth, for an area of weakness, top-line scoring)

Meh. I'm so done with that. For the past 10 years the Habs only had 1 or 2 prospects at any position who could reasonably make the NHL. Now we're like 8 deep at LHD 5 deep at C, and 2 deep at RHD. 2 Deeps sucks. If we can package a LHD/C or 2 to get deeper at RHD we have to do it.

Nah you guys killed that trade, but Durzi isn't far off from late first and his value should improve in a more sheltered role against weaker competition.

I think you guys are not going to like him, I'm not a huge fan of Penguins defensemen, but that's just me.

Geez. You know statistically Matheson had a great season last year. Better stats than both Durzi & Chychrun...

I felt he as well as several Penguins defensemen were sheltered, their system makes fools gold out of players so I steer clear of them, I feel the same way about Marcus Pettersson. Just one guys opinion though.
