It's definitely fair value if Kane signs an extension. But does Chicago really want to trade Kane only to see Willie leave as a UFA in 2 years? They'd want to get him signed to an extension too. I don't even know if they'd want Willie. I think they'll take the best prospects package. They want to bottom out for Bedard. Willie might prevent that.

Kane signing for 5 X 5 years extension is just "crazy". Passing the torch to the league MVP in 2028. Wow. Doubt if Matthews is even a Leafs in 2028. Must say that is quite the imagination.
By the way there sure is difference between "right to talk to another teams player for an extension" and the player actually signing an extension.
Easy no from Seattle.

CoachCart - what is your rationale for adding Nylander to the trade? Not sure Hawks want an established player 2 years from FA (they are in tank mode and want picks + prospects) & why would the Leafs pay such a hefty price for slight upgrade to one wing position? Kane is better than Nylander but not by much at this point in his career. If you want to add Kane (& keep Nylander), then I get it but trading Nylander to get Kane - doesn’t make sense.

I actually had something like this in mind. But it would include Nylander being traded to Calgary immediately, since he is a calgary native and could probably fill the hole on their top line right wing. I think Nylander could easily be a top line forward if he wasn't behind Marner and Calgary would probably be eager to get a fairly young home town guy in there that might be less likely to leave town.

That's an option. Flames would likely want to dump Backlund to fit Willie in but maybe Chicago would want Pelletier included?

Yeah, him or Lucic... or both, if they want to pay for dumping all that cap. haha. But I just don't actually create ACGM's often anymore. How the DeBrincat trade turned out in reality absolutely defeated me. lol
