Ottawa seems pretty set for the LEFT side with Chabot and Sanderson. If you want to acquire our 2023 1st for Dobson though we'd be happy to chat.

Or Pulock instead of Pelech. Both play the right side, which is what Ottawa needs.

"what the islanders should do: replace every single D & both goalies for a team that was top-10 in goal prevention last year"

      seriously though, i'll indulge:

-this goalie situation is a joke. if you're doing this for 2023-24, you're talking about a Freddie Andersen turning 34. Signing him through his age-40 season at $7M AAV is an awful move. Signing Khudobin for any amount as a 37 year old is somehow a worse move though.

-2 years for Alex Edler is a huge gamble when he's 37. Signing Klingberg to a 7 year deal through his age-37 season is another big gamble. Severson would have to have a *huge* season this year to justify 7x$7M. Conversely, why is Matt Dumba taking a pay cut? And Seattle would love you for offer sheet-ing Dunn at that AAV (in other words: he ain't signing that low.)

-Dobson is worth more than that. Dobson is literally more valuable than every RD you've put on this team - he makes less per season than Klingberg/Severson/Dumba and I would argue he's at least an equal, if not better than all three of those guys. Vancouver pays a lot, lot more for him.

-Ah, here's the Leafs fan trade from "TypicalLeafsFan" - at least you live up to your name. I'd argue that the 2nd rounder here is the cost of dumping Muzzin's deal, making this basically Knies & a 1st for Pulock. Easy pass - you can't get a top pair D for a late 1st and a prospect, something else useful needs to come back.

-Just assuming Romanov goes back to MTL as part of the "should have done" part of this ACGM and they kept their 2022 1st rounder instead.

-Again, Pelech is a no-doubt top pair D. He doesn't go for a single 1st when mid guys like David Savard have been traded for a 1st++ in the last couple years. Ottawa adds a ton more to this package if they want Pelech.

-At this point I just assume you're trolling because this is 2 cap dumps, a mildly useful Tanner Pearson, and a 1st/prospect package for Barzal? If we want to engage seriously, the 1st basically covers the cost of unloading Dickinson & Poolman, which makes the deal Lekkerimaki/Pearson for Barzal. Damn. I've seen a lot of underpayments from Vancouver for Dobson/Barzal packages lately but this one is probably the worst yet.

-Goalie values are always insanely difficult to peg - if I *knew* the Devils had a top 5 pick, and if I wanted to move Sorokin, I would think about this. But that's two pretty colossal "if"s.

-Actually this might be an overpay? I dunno. I don't know how Beauvillier would fit on Calgary and I would want to see him bounce back before I paid a 1st for him if I were another team.

This is just aggressively bad value all around - it replaces a strong D corps with an older, more expensive, and arguably worse one. Major downgrades in goal, especially in terms of value. And the top 6 is a bunch of young, unproven players - statistically it's very likely one of these guys turns out to be a bum.

The issue I have with Pulock is he turns 28 before the season starts and will be in year ONE of an EIGHT year deal, meaning he'd be 36 in final season.
Also, the first five years of his deal has a FULL NTC and I'm not sure he jumps at the chance to come to Ottawa... but you never know.

Oh I agree, Pulock wouldn't be my first choice. I was simply responding with that Ottawa would need a RD over a LD.
