Last year i couldnt overpay to land Pearson , what changed?
Also MTL doesnt want Diepietro as we already got Allen, Monty , Primeau, Vrbetic and Poulin
If he ranked ahead of any of them we'd be interested but he doesnt

Unless VAN takes back 1/5 goalies we cant justify it.
Price going down doesnt change this it just makes decision time easier.
Plus Dobes is set to turn Pro the next year or two and those are just our Pro Level or close to Prospects.

We're much happier with Waiver Pickups for goalies.
Monty may not win but he adapts pretty good after 2 goals in i've seen him make 50 saves out of pure anger and spite lol
He was a good waiver pick up who has seen a lot of growth since dropping that weight and putting on muscle after joining MTL.
Like Devin Dubnyk it appeared the Monty was over indulging in junk food during lockdown and came out looking like he eat himself
The more weight Monty dropped the better he player

Now were in a position where we might actually get paid for Monty in the near future.
Dipietro might even be whom we claim , but we're not paying for him nor are we claiming him until Allen is traded.

You might be able to get that for Pearson from some team, but definitely not CHI.

Now they cant give him away for a 5th and a 7th ?

I mean... First of all, if they wouldn't take a 1st for him they are just being intentionally difficult. But, more importantly, CHI is rebuilding, tanking, already has a full roster, and will NOT be using ANY assets, let alone draft capital, to acquire veteran players any time soon. Especially not 30 year old bottom 6 forwards with backloaded contracts.
