You would have to pay the isles to swap Bailey for OEL. OEL is dog **** even at 50% retained.

Devils decline. This move would leave them with four goalies on the active roster and -7m in cap space. Not to mention that this is an insane amount to pay for a team that may not even be any good this year. They will be perfectly happy continuing to wait for Quinn to get to UFA

Shows how much you know about the Canucks. He’s a skill first defenceman that excelled in a shut down role with Tyler ***** Myers. He’d be a top 4 D man for the Islanders. At half retained he’s absolutely worth his contract

I’ve watched him play. He’s trash bro. I’m sure he looks really good in comparison to Tucker Poolman tho! And if you can throw Myers under the bus in the process of praising OEL then even better!

Vancouver should get a lot more for Horvat and Garland. The pick in the Horvat trade is the value to dump Johnson and the second in the Boston trade is the price to dump Foligno. You’d get way more for either player

Between the high value of the assets and the cap issues arising from any viable targets, I literally can't think of a single player for which the Jackets would give up that package. (There's a few if we ignore the cap, but we've had some hard lessons w/r/t what happens when you ignore the cap.)

I’m sure you learned lots about OEL in the 2 Canucks games you watch each year. Yeah he’s not a 1 D anymore but he’s a solid top 4 D. Overpaid as **** but at half retained he’s worth way more then Bailey

I don’t even disagree with you. But I’m so irritated by your OEL comment that I’m gonna reply to this anyway. You don’t get to complain about an ACGM where Vancouver trades oel away without moving multiple high end assets. It’s just not right.

COL is not trading their 23 1st it’s the only pick they have in the 1st 5 rounds in the 22 and 23 drafts. On top of that they can’t afford Horvath’s contract and EJ blocks the hell out of that trade.

If it was the same number of years I would understand ur POV. But OEL has five years left and the idea that he is a good NUMBER FOUR D MAN…. Is insane.

Do you think I watch exactly 82 games per year? I have ESPN plus for a reason dude. I saw way more of OEL then I liked last year. Dude skates like his blades r made of cement.

EJ isn’t a cap dump period. His contract expires at the end of the year and he is playing well and is an absolute locker room leader.

I agree 110%. You don’t trade a guy like EJ given his history with the organization anyway. It’s classless and ridiculous to do so.

He’s still a really good player. He’s no longer the high end #1 D man he used to be but to say he’s not a serviceable top 4 D is an absolute joke. He’s way better then Romanov

I imagine he’s a solid leader but he’s a bottom pairing D making 6 million. Maybe it doesn’t cost a first to dump him but the value of cap space is higher then his value

He’s absolutely not a serviceable top four d man. The idea he’s better than Romanov is ridiculous? Do you want to know why?

Because Romanov can ****ing skate and OEL can’t. If you can’t skate you can’t play it’s that simple. And betting on OEL and his cement skates to be a top four guy for five years is hysterical. Get real.

Not once did I say he’s gonna be a top 4 D in 5 years. Romanov does nearly nothing but hit. Yeah skating isn’t OELs strong suit but he actually adds good value in both ends of the ice. More then Bailey

Romanov has decent metrics and his numbers were boosted once St. Louis came in. Do your research bro.

OEL is not brutal. And I have been incredibly critical of this team. Myers is absolutely not a top 4 D and doesn’t deserve to sniff 6 million a year. The Poolman contract is one of the worst contracts I’ve seen. He’s a 5-6 D at best. I highly doubt the Canucks roster as is is even a playoff team. I think a ton of Canucks fans are insanely overvaluing Miller in a trade. He’s not getting Dobson, or Byram, or Schneider, and it’s insane to think he is. That being said, thinking OEL is awful is just flat out wrong
