Description
Rebuild timeline: If done right the Jets can quickly restock and rebuild. I focused on 4 big pieces and avoided smaller moves for mid round picks that are also likely to happen (Dillon, Demelo for example)

August 2022 - Wheeler buyout: Teams with available cap space are dwindling, I can't see any of them being interested without Wpg eating a significant amount of 26's contract. If he had one year remaining I think he would be far easier to move. At this point the buyout makes the most sense as the cap penalty is very reasonable. $4 mill this season, $2 mill 3 following.

2023 Deadline or at the Draft - PLD trade: This is dependent on whether or not Wpg is in the playoffs heading into the 2023 trade deadline. If on the outside, PLD is moved at the deadline to a contender, if they are in the Jets will hold off until the offseason and most likely try the Habs again. I included both scenarios.

2023 Draft - Hellebuyck trade - possible they wait until the 2024 deadline but I don't think they will want to go into that deadline looking to move both Helly & Scheif.

2024 Trade deadline - Scheifele trade - a long way off still, I picked a random team who I think will still be in contention.

Those deals all seem to favor the Jets pretty heavily

So the gap between Dvorak (a centre with a 50 point pace last year) and Dubois (a centre with 60 points last year) is Mysac, and 2 firsts?

PLD does have a higher ceiling imo, but he's constantly overvalued by people. I'd laugh if a team payed two firsts for him

Honestly, that's not the most egregious proposal here, the Kings one is. A year of Hellebuyck (plus a likely overpay on a new contract) is not even close to being worth a Clarke type prospect, let alone a 1st and a 2nd as well.

Rob Blake of the Los Angeles Kings sees this trade offer on the table. He calls Gary “Daddy” Bettman, after that phone call, Winnipeg Jets are no longer a NHL team.

    We have Quick and Peterson.

The Los Angeles Kings have absolutely 0 interest. Yeah let’s give up our Best Prospect “In my Opinion” + 1st around + 2nd? How about we keep our Prospect and Picks. Maybe just maybe in 2 years if Hellubuyck becomes a UFA we might sign him and not give anything up. None the less, I trust Peterson to become more consistent.

They should when you're dealing the caliber of players like an all star or a vezina winner.

Assuming PLD value increases based on an even better personal season I could see a return somewhere along those lines, Dvorak doesn't have a lot of value IMO. I could also see something else possibly added from the Jets. 2 firsts is alot, but the Florida pick would be likely bottom 5.

Whats the point of buying out Wheeler when you have $27M in cap space?.. lol

Just keep him and trade at the TDL when he's a UFA, should be able to get something for him with some retention which the Jets will be willing to do at that point.

The end of the line happened for this organization when they traded Laine, what a collosal miss by this Mackey Mouse organization.

So this is a 2023 trade, Quick would be gone as his contract would have expired. The Kings are on the verge of making some serious noise and if Peterson has a similar season they would most likely be looking at an upgrade. Obviously a deal like this would be dependent on Helly signing long term.

In the next 2-3 Years we can sign a UFA goalie. Without giving up anything.

Maybe, but under 30 (30 in May) past Vezina winners are rarely available on the UFA market. As well, over paying for past Vezina winners on the UFA market rarely works out as planned.

You get 2 years of Hellebuyck and are giving up an elite defensive prospect and a first in a loaded draft class and a second. PLD offer is an extreme overpay for a second point player and Schliefele is the most one dimensional player in the league
