Are you saying they are bad or that the jets could just get a little bit more?

Not that the trades are bad but they wouldn’t be the smartest from the Jets since Ehlers could be entering his prime rn if not started his prime years last season and Connor is arguably their best player on a good priced contract with some years left on it

Boston has zero interest and Foligno blocks with NTC.

He has a 16 team no trade list, he can be moved. Boston is also 2.5M over the cap right now with one extra player on the roster according to this site. Also seems like the majority of Boston fans want to dump Foligno and Reilly and this gets them both off the roster while also making them cap compliant. Don't forget about the 6'5" almost ppg player the Bruins get.

Very rarely do teams give up their top prospects for players but in the Connor trade the Jets get the wings second best prospect and most NHL ready prospect in Berggren. Edvinsson would be a non starter and I doubt Cossa would be an option either considering what was traded to acquire him. Yzerman traded up to draft Buium and I think there was a good reason for that, he's looking pretty good in college right now. Hanas is a bit of a wild card but could be a good middle six forward.

Connor is legit top 10 winger in the league on an excellent deal. If you're trading a guy like that you have to get better than a protected 1st and a few former 2nd rounders. Id want something just shy of an Eichel return. top prospect, 1st, good younger roster player

Totally agree, they would be fools to trade those guys but I couldn't leave any value left on the team lol

You do know that would be am overpayment to get wheeler with 2 years on his contract lol. Now i could agree foligno blocks the trade but woth 1 yr left he could very easily come back to Boston on a shorter term contract amd the trade make Boston more competitive at the end of the day. Only real asset i see being given up is the 2025 1st rd pick and even then still a long ways away from this year lol

Boston can’t take the 2nd year of Wheeler.

Don’t want Foligno back even at league minimum, he was terrible last year.

They need to stop pissing away 1sts.

The rest of the league does not see Wheeler at 36 with a terrible contract with term as an asset. That 2nd year will make him almost impossible to move even with 50% retention.

they are all good pieces. I just think you need a bigtime piece coming back when youre trading a guy the caliber of Connor

Yes Foligno can be moved. Not to Winnipeg. You can bet the farm they are on the list.

B’s under cap simply by burying Foligno and Wagner or trading Reilly. Not an issue.

Boston can’t take Wheelers 2nd year. Cap issues next year.

Good luck finding a team that thinks Wheeler at 36, declining, terrible contract, with term, is an asset. Will be tough to move and get anything of value in return.

Well given he had 17G-43A-60P in 65 games played last season and boston would be acquiring him already at 4.125mil for 2 years if you count this season would be very easy for boston to retain another 50% on his 4.125mil contract and still come up on top of a deal next season if they were to get Wheeler then trade him on his last year of contract . That being said if boston were to retain 50% of his contract next year he would only have a cap hit of 2.06mil against boston and any team involved

I'm not opposed to trading Cossa, I hated that trade when it happened lol. Also would fix my biggest issue I realized afterwards was not getting a good young goalie with high potential for the future.

You obviously have not looked at their cap situation next season.

The reason they did not buyout Foligno was they could not carry his dead cap hit next year. They sure as hell are not retaining anything.

Foligno can be moved but it would likely cost a second to do so. You could bury both those guys sure, sucks for them. Wheeler at 50% would be very easy to get a decent return for.

I would prefer Drury I think he's the better player. It's also part of the reason I didn't go for Morrow and Necas. I also know Jarvis is a non starter.

Morrow would also be a non-starter. I think this is probably a little much with Drury. I think Suzuki would get the Canes to bite the bullet, but I think Drury is a bridge too far. He's the only NHL ready forward prospect right now, and they already need him to fill the 4C role. I can't see Drury being used.

For sure would be tough to work around the cap next year but adding him to the team even if its just 1 year gives you a better chance making it to the playoffs and possibly a deep run. On the other hand for your cap argument next year given they don’t give any extensions during the season, Boston will have around 24-24.5mil to work with

Totally fair, picked him as he's my favorite of the two. Would Kochetkov be a possibility? Probably not I would expect with Carolina's goalie situation next season.

With 2 years left on his contract and half the league looking to reduce cap, only 8 teams currently could take him at 50% without moving salary. And none of those teams want him. A couple of them still have big contracts to sign. Realistically only 3 or 4 teams could, but are not going to.

About the only way it happens is Jets taking back a bad 1 year contract in return.

There are sone options that way, but not many. That 2nd year is a killer.

Could easily fill that roll on a 1 yr 1mil deal for Paul Stastny or Sam Steel to fill the 4c role if we can keep the room for Pacioretty at the end of the day. That would be my biggest thing Canes would think about this season since we could be a cup contender this year. Other than that id say its pretty fair tbh, tho id rather see Suzuki in trade vs Drury we would have Ehlers for the next 3 years

Ya 25m with 13 players signed. Let’s say Bergy and DK both retire.

Pasta, Zacha, Swayman, Frederic going to take about 21m, leaving 4m for 6 players. The top 2 centers are Zacha and Coyle. And oh ya, there will likely be bonus overages from Bergy and DK.

See a problem?

Cap issues this year, cap issues next year. Foligno not waiving for Peg. No way it works. And Boston sure as hell are not giving up picks or quality prospects to do it.

Yeah, no. Kochetkov is a top 5 goalie prospect right now. He's not available without a LOT more coming back.

Cap issues this year, cap issues next year. Foligno not waiving for Peg. No way it works. And Boston sure as hell are not giving up picks or quality prospects to do it.

I can see DK taking another team friendly contract 2-3yr 2-3mil/swayman 3-4yr 2-3mil/Zacha 2-3yr 3.5-4.5mil/ Fredrick 1-3yr 2-3mil/ Pasta 7yr 8-8.5mil(21mil) but given expiring contracts like Craig Smith, Chris Wagner, and Connor Clifton you would have more than enough to resign depth players and if you want given Bergeron signs another very friendly team deal, and at the end of the day you could still sell Wheeler if hes producing still for good price given Jets hold 50% of contract

Don't you think if they were going to sign a free agent for the roster, they'd have done it by now?
