Description
Lots of hopes and dreams here.
these trades, the values may all be off (I am well aware) and the teams will obviously change due to circumstances.
Reimer to Vegas makes sense, he’s proven and a vet plus his deal expires as Lehnr gets healthy.
Meier to NJD makes a lot oa sense to me but they will have to pay fair value, a mid round 1st and a top prospect seems like more than fair value for a young healthy all star power forward on the rise.
moving Simek and Megna frees up the log jamb of LD we have and Nutivarra is moved as well, but Megna and Nutivarra only if Knyzhov returns healthy before the deadline.
Bonino and Nieto moved to free up roster spots as they don’t look to be in our future plans.
team will have injuries and without Reimer or Meier, won’t play well and end up bottom 5, with my hope bottom 3.
Adam Fantilli is an ideal target in the draft, bigger highly skilled C who we can groom to be our future top line C.
add in the rest of the draft picks in this deep skilled draft and sharks should have a well stocked prospect pool and some cap space moving forward.
pick up a LD top 4 guy long term in Sanheim and a short term RD stop gap on Johnson and the team has a solid top 4 D (as long as Karlsson stays healthy)
the offense will be young and streaky but will get better as the season progresses. Team will be just outside the playoffs unless we stay healthy and the young guys progress faster than anticipated.
24/25 will be our year to take the next step as the younger guys will have 70+ games of NHL experience and with another group of prospects NHL ready combined with a bunch of contracts coming off the books and the jump in salary cap expected we will have some cap room to add where needed, however we will need to be smart with any signings or trades as those younger guys will all be looking to get paid soon.

With an extension the Devils may consider that, but keep in mind that Holtz is poised to become a roster player this year. If the Devils are contending and Holtz is a contributor, they'll want to send an actual prospect instead. Think along the lines of the first, a later pick, and one or two of guys like Zetterlund, Foote, Thompson, Stillman, Mukhamadullin, Bahl, Walsh, Okhotiuk. Using the Hall package as a template, the Devils offer would be along the lines of 2023 1st, 2024 3rd, Bahl, Thompson, Vukojevic.

That’s way too much for Meier.
Gotta think more along the lines of what DeBrincat and Fiala got in return.

ok if we’re going comps then let’s do Tkatchuk
and ask severson the 25 1st and Jesper.
yes we can use comparisons but I felt a yet to be proven but high caliber prospect and a 1st was fair!
Debrincat was a straight up steal and a foolish deal by Chicago and isn’t a reality for a comparison. just like Tkatchuk return was way to much and not reasonable here.

      I could do Thompson Bahl Walsh the 23 1st and 24 2nd.
could also do Mercer 23 1st for Meier and a 4th.
but Holtz and Eklund have chemestry and having played together in the past and that’s why i want him.

Luke Hughes will be on the team as soon as Michigan's season is finished. At the latest he'll be in the NHL to start 2023-24

I don't see Holtz or Mercer as being on the table, ELC contracts are going to be how the Devils can afford to contend for the next few years.

Your offer of Thompson, Bahl, Walsh, a 1st, and a 2nd is quite expensive. Walsh is worth significantly more than Vukojevic. Bear in mind that the prospects in the Hall trade were Bahl, Merkley, and Schnarr. Bahl was much less ready at the time, Merkley was a depth forward at best, and Schnarr is an AHLer. You're asking for two NHL ready defensemen and a depth forward, on top of the 2nd straight up.

I buy the argument that Hall was never going to extend in Arizona, but there's no reason to assume that Meier would extend in Jersey. If this is a deadline trade, the Devils cannot bank on Meier sticking around and therefore cannot spend what you're asking.

my post mentioned with an extention set for NJ.
Meier is a 30-40 goal ppg power forward on your team.
the only reason he didn’t hit 40G 90p with the sharks was him and Hertl where literally the only offense we had and every teams top shut down D we’re on them both.
I don’t think a 1st and a top prospect is a bad offer, and none of the 3 prospects I spoke about are elite and you still balk.
I don’t think your being fair, and I only use NJD because they have the cap space to resign him and we’re looking at trading for Tkatchuk and Gaudreau in FA meaning they are looking for a top line wing and Meier is the best option now. and at 25 fits the contention window for your club.

The 1st if fine if it is lottery protected.

Holtz is not on table. Would have to choose from Foote, Zetterlund, Thompson, Walsh, Bahl, Okhotiuk, Salminen, Stillman, Casey, Edwards, etc

There are plenty of very good prospects to chose from...just cannot have one of our elite guys (Hughes, Nemec, Holtz, Gritsyuk, Mukhamadullin)

'Thompson Bahl Walsh the 23 1st and 24 2nd' This one might be fair value when you add it all up, but probably not the kind of deal I want if I am the sharks. The 1st round pick would clearly be the centerpiece of that deal. If Walsh continues to improve I think there is potential for him to be a pretty good player, but thats still a gamble. The other two look like they could be roster players, but I think the upside is slim.

'could also do Mercer 23 1st for Meier and a 4th.' I would much rather do this if I am the sharks, but I dont think the devils would be willing to do it due to the cost control that mercer will have.

To me the Mercer + 1st is Ideal for the sharks!
I like him more than Holtz to be honest.
But with Mercer I feel the Devils could move Holtz or visa versa.

benning at his best won’t be a top 4 guy! the hope is Merkley is awesome and we just need the LD or Nutivarra is solid.
whoever we get for 2D is just a stop gap till Lroque is ready! i see him as a top 4 staple in 1-3 years

Yeah, I have high hopes for Laroque.

I have this sneaking suspicion he will be the steal of that draft and end up top 4/ top pair RD he’s fast, big, shifty and has a good shot and very smart passer/ player. we got lucky with that pick.
