Stastny signing is unnecessary if you have both girgensons and asplund scratched (both should be in the lineup)

I think what stastny brings on the ice is much greater than girgs and asplund. Much more complete game

I just feel stastny bring much more to a game, even at 36. Girgs has been serviceable for us for years but just my take.

And i think vinnie and asplund will be rotating in and out this year. Whichever is the hot hand

*Please note, this isn't meant to dump on the Sabres*

My thoughts-The Sabres should see some solid growth from guys like JPP, Quinn, Cozens, etc., but do we realistically think this is a roster that's even close to the other teams that are going to be fighting for a wildcard spot (ie. Ottawa, Detroit, Boston in the Atlantic, Isles, Columbus, Caps in Metro).

I just don't see it...IMO, adding Comrie (big question mark), Power full time, and Boosh, while praying for positive development, doesn't get them even close to the 25ish point improvement that they'd need over last year to get a spot.

That being said, I think the Sabres will have a solid development year this year, before Pegula potentially opens the wallet next offseason.

d say sabres are still in the same grouping as detroit and ottawa. Boston has to sign bergeron before making a real prediction, but with marchand already missing lots of time, they may be on the down fall. Isles also are very meh while washington will be washington. Sabres are a sleeper rn

They aren’t a playoff team yet, but they are building the team the right way. Detroit Ottawa we’re bad teams last season that couldn’t even finish higher than the Sabres last year when they were projected to be the worst team in the League. I think if they can get 80 points and be above 500 along with more player growth will be a win this season.

Asplund was a top defender last year, ended up getting Selke votes. If he could just finish he would be a top 9 forward easily.

IF he could finish. But he cant. Hes fine as a 4th line LW but to put him in top 9 is a waste of a spot. Modern NHL you need four lines that can cause damage to have success and when asplund is on you arent too hopeful for offense

I feel like Arizona was projected to be the worst team?

But yes, I agree, they *should* be able to be a .500 team this year, and you *should* get to see some solid development from a lot of guys. I'd put the odds of Comrie and Andy duplicating their numbers from last year as a pretty big long shot, but otherwise, they should be entertaining to watch at least.
