I'd rather get a younger guy that fits the timeline if we are giving that return. JT M will want $8M per and his style of play (which I love) wont look good at theend of teh contract, its likely good for half IMO. I also think Fitz keeps Severson

This would be a TDL deal, in case you actually make a solid push for the playoffs. You need depth to go far, and as it stands you don't really have that elite winger. Bratt could be if he continues developing, but it's not guaranteed. Mercer and Holtz both have potential too, but it feels a bit early for them. This post is essentially the win-now option, but you could just keep tooling with the defense, and wait for Holtz/Mercer/Zetterlund to develop. Both options probably get you into a competitive position, so you'll be fine either way.

Too much for Miller. Severson alone should get a 1st, maybe more by himself. And I doubt NJD extends Miller...so too much for a rental.
