I'd say value for Toews is about right. Maybe even a bit high. It depends on when the deal happens and how Toews is playing at the time.

Could easily be low as well. The last third of the season, Toews was finally coming back to himself. If he comes back even stronger after the long covid stuff this year, this will be a little light.

That all said, no way is he a 4C. Kampf is a natural 4C, should never have been playing 3C. Toews is a perfect 3C

no way man, Kampf as Leafs 3rd line C was lights out last season! Their 3rd line was an excellent shutdown line!!! But yes, in this scenario, Kampf would be 4th line C if Toews is on the roster!! EASILY

4th line should be the shutdown and physical scrappy forechecking line IMO which is the role he played on the Hawks and was great at it. 3rd line is a tweener line; good defense, but able to score.

That's exactly what the Leafs 3rd line was last season. Not only did they do an excellent job shutting down, they produced! Engvall/Kampf/Mikheyev. Kampf was better in TO than he was in Chi ca go!
