You really think Florida wants OEL?

Vancouver is getting absolutely royally screwed in that TOR trade

Florida easily declines

That Toronto deal is horrendous for Vancouver

NJ deal seems pretty fair, maybe slightly favours the Canucks

Don’t see why Devils would trade two RHD at once, especially when Walsh is next in line for 3RHD if Severson is dealt (would be unfair on Nemec to thrust him into the lineup straight away).
Trade is lopsided in Vancouvers FA out anyway, would make much more sense to just do Garland for Severson straight up.

How come Florida wouldn't like OEL around 6 mill? Their best left D right now is Forsling so they could use a guy and OEL is still decent.

I think RHD being the premium position and wingers going for peanuts right now more than weighs up for that. I like Garland a lot, but if you feel you’d rather roll with one of the leagues weakest right sided defenses I won’t make too big a fuzz about it.
Devils best course of action may be to just play Severson for the year and let him walk at the end of it anyways

In what world would that ever be NJs “best course of action”?! That is *literally* the worst thing that they could do lol

Because I think having a right side of Hamilton, Severson and Marino would be one of the strongest in the league.
The Devils could be very competitive with such a talented D corps.

Trading Severson now means that the Devils would either need to seek a less capable 3RHD to replace or banking on Walsh being ready to step up, which really isn’t a sure thing.

Anyway, Id prefer it if Severson was moved for a cost controlled asset (like Garland, Puljujärvi etc) but if Severson walked as an UFA and Devils got a playoff run out of it, I wouldn’t shed a tear.

Devils trade only makes sense if Severson is extended at a reasonable number

With the salary retention, I honestly don't think the Panthers trade is that unreasonable

The Leafs trade is atrocious for Vancouver though
