Habs hope to sell Drouin at deadline for futures and don’t want that extra year of Foegele. I would be surprised if teams will take Barrie without sweeteners included.🤷🏼‍♂️

And we are retaining here and not getting a pick ?
We rather have Drouin than Foegele anyway

I was just testing a habs fan suggested trade to see how extreme the oilers would have to get to make it work.

Actually looking at it the Oilers could probably add a pick to make it more even.

It’s a weird off-season trying to unload contracts. No ideal if everyone is just waiting for the big UFAs to sign or is this the new normal were cap is king

Firmly against moving Barrie. Do really like the idea of Drouin.

I think it's because they want to sign with teams who can't really sign them until they make a trade or sign their RFAs. Cap is also king, but sooner or later Anaheim will need to take on some cap but they could always just sign 2 small guys instead of taking a cap dump, same with ARZ (they would probably love a guy like Kerfoot but he has a M-NTC with them on it probably). So between, RFAs needing contracts, Kadri and Klinberg's interest in contenders who have no cap, and guys with M-NTC or NTCs, everything seems to be frozen. Klingberg is probably going to have to take less, he missed out on Seattle cuz he probably doesn't rate them. They only have like 4m left in space and I think they might take Barrie off the Oilers, but the Oilers ofc will need a RD to replace him.

I think Seattle could take him if he's cheap if Klingberg goes elsewhere, they don't really have cap though to sign him to a mega deal anyways. He might have missed his chance and have to take a one year deal, unless Anaheim or Buffalo are interested in him.

What you said about Drouin makes sense, and I don't really think he's a fit on the Oilers at this time. Their top 6 should be set, and I doubt he does any good on line 3.

If it were next year I would say the Oilers should take a shot on Desharnais to replace Barrie however that would be difficult with already having Broberg in his first full season.

Unless RNH is going to play as the 3C and Draisaitl as 2C, there really is no place for Drouin in the top 6. McDavid and Draisaitl like to play with Yamamoto supposedly but also he's probably not good enough to be the C anyways during the playoffs. If they can't get Kane, then perhaps he would be an interesting get.

Hyman -McDavid-E. Kane
Drouin - Draisaitl - Yamamoto
Holloway- RNH- (someone since JP is probably going to get traded)

or

E. Kane -McDavid-Yamamoto
Hyman - Draisaitl - P. Kane

Someone on twitter was guessing that Lou might have signed Kadri already, and I wouldn't be surprised. Last season he officially signed all his guys in the same day. Maybe Noah Dobson is signed as well, and he's just looking to make some trades prior, so that he's cap compliant and doesn't lose any leverage in trades.

I forgot about last year…makes tons of sense. I hope it opens up cause too many teams are over the cap and it will be a mess. It’s kinda boring too lol

Yeah, apparently there might be a JT Miller for Severson trade in the works, so I'm just waiting for that. I thing Van might also be interested in signing Klingberg but there going to have to trade Myers somewhere to do that. Pittsburgh is still chilling with 8 dmen, so sooner or later they will have to make a trade. I'm just waiting for August 11th which at that time all RFAs who are arb eligible will have been signed, should result in more movement around the league.

The Tkachuk-Huberdeau trade made up for all the inactivity prior to that after day 1 of FA.
