At first, I was like...naahh. However, the picks seem to warrant the trade. Otherwise, it is just a cap dump.

You're gonna need to dump Dadonov elsewhere, dude.

St.Louis showed last year that they're still very much a playoff team, why on god's green earth would they take on Dadanov's contract?

I don't think the Flames are interested in Hoffman tbh but they just might do that one. It's 4 quarters for a dollar and those trades are more risky for the team that's trading away the dollar in my experience.

And why are you trading away Allen when Price might very well retire due to the swellings in his knees? That's the strangest trade you've got going on there.

This is 1 year early:

Assuming the Flames are in the playoffs, they won't flip Huberdeau at the deadline, so he will test free agency. Then we can keep our assets AND sigh Huberdeau

With the team you've iced the Habs finish middle of the pack, but if you give them an extra year to lose they get an amazing draft pick to add to the core

Let's see what we have in Dach and Dvorak this year as they may both increase their value and make it easier to trade for Dubois in the offseason

There will be other players like Klingberg available down the road once the Habs are ready to win

I like what you're saying Jonh.
But do you really think Calgary will let Huberdeau walk free?
I feel like they have to trade him if he doesn't sign an extension.

I don't think they have a choice. They will use the year to "try and convince him" Calgary is a great place to play. Who knows, if they push deep into the playoffs they may succeed. I don't think they are comfortable not icing a competitive team next season. They want to win now.

Yeah, I don't know...
Every move they make in regards to Weegar and Huberdeau will be judged against Tkachuk leaving.
I do t know much of the Flames but wouldn't this be a good opportunity to re build?
