I hear you, it seems like a lot for a young 24 yr old cost controlled defenseman who is top 4. On top of that a first plus prospects seems like a bad trade so probably won’t be a move Avs would make

Newhook yes perhaps. The pick would be going from Calgary to the Avs though not the other way around. Cost controlled top 4 D who plays both sides, 24 years old, 5 years on a good deal (arguably top 2 if he were in Calgary) vs a second tier C (and much as he'd be ideal for the Avs that's what he is and that's not knocking him) who would be 2C in Colorado with 2 years on a decent deal at 27 years old......the difference is not a former 1st round pick future 2C AND a pick if we're talking fair valuation. If you're talking overpaying to get it done then Girard and Newhook should be enough to get Lindholm and nothing else (as in Calgary doesn't add). Otherwise the Avs should walk away.
