I'm curious to hear your rationale for the Pens trade.

Reilly is a quality bottom 4 defenseman and has a slightly lower cap hit than Pettersson and only has 1 year left as well

You realize the Pens have NINE dmen on one-way contracts, right? There's ZERO chance the Pens are going to add a quality future to remain in the same situation of needing to reduce the number of dmen. He's also largely a lateral move from Pettersson. The $1M savings doesn't move the needle enough to pay a premium for it.

I do, however I would not be surprised if the decided to do a move like this that they would trade one of or both of POJ and smith for an affordable top 6 forward
