Matheson could be a perfect fit here

Description
Matheson and Wideman as an offensive pairing.
Edmundson to help bring along Barron and eventually Mailloux.
Savard to help bring along Harris and eventually Guhle.
I imagine we pick up a waiver claim at right D during training camp to add to our depth.
Or what about a 1 year deal for Klingberg? He’ll probably like the UFA market for his services better next offseason. Top pairing minutes with Matheson in offensive situations boosts his value. The salary cap works with Byron on LTIR and with Drouin either moved or on LTIR.

Would love having Klingberg sign a 1 year. Flip him at the deadline for picks

Why would klingberg sign a one year deal with a bottom feeder? If he’s going to sign for that short of term, going to be a playoff team. And how do you keep Byron or Drouin on LTIR all season - You’ll have to add some picks to dump both of those salaries, no?

Lehner did it a few years ago in CHI, as did Janmark. Hall did in Buffalo. It's rare, but it happens. It's just an ACGM for fun.

Why did Toronto name their team after the part of a tree that wilts and dies during the winter time?

The 32nd team in the NHL came back from 3-1 to knock you guys out. Your goalie is Matt Murray. Win a round and then chirp - we're still high from a Stanley Cup appearance.

Our team sucks. We can admit that. We are rebuilding and it'll be painful. However, our team has had more playoff success in the last three years as a re-setting team than the leafs have had as an "all in" "contending team". Be patient, your time to mouth off will come...eventually

Only one team wins each year; Would I prefer Leafs to get out of first round, of course but who cares how far you go if you end up losing? Teams that finish rock bottom can’t chirp anyone, let alone perennial top 5 or 10

Betting (or being patient) on the Leafs is akin to waiting for Godot. One incompetent set of managers after another running that organization.
From day one last season we were tanking for the first overall pick at the home draft. Habs succeeded two years in a row. It took a Lightning team $18mm over the cap to beat us. We’ll be using LTIR to our advantage these next 4 years and with a healthy Price in the playoffs, anything’s possible.

Don’t forget a dirty knee to JT’s head in first round. Incompetent set of managers in leaf land but we finish top 10 in league year after year. But habs mgmt is somehow competent for finishing last ?! Seems like you have setup a pretty good argument to support your case neutral
