Meh, if you are going to lose Girard, you just have to keep Kadri in my book. You're gonna have a hell of a time signing MacKinnon, Sharangovich, Newhook, Byram, and Smith after this year.

To me, if Girard is leaving, it's just got to be to keep Kadri. It doesn't really make sense otherwise

Value wise I feel like it is pretty close but it just doesn’t make sense for the devils as defense isn’t their focus right now it’s wingers so trading someone like sharengovich is not a good idea for them

Sharangovich will likely stay in NJD as he has been stapled to Hughes line the last couple of years. Pavel Zacha is probably your best bet from NJD (at smaller cost obviously). Outside of Zacha, and maybe Andreas Johnsson, I am not sure NJD is selling many forwards.

Yea, I am not to high on Zacha and realized you do have strong forward core with Holtz hopefully getting a spot in top 6. Girard would be a great addition to help with breakouts and improve your D as it is one of your weaker areas and this years UFA does not have many strong D for a decent price. Comphers fair value is closer to 2.75m a year and is a great addition to top 9.

Mack will get johnsons contract. Newhook will maybe be 2m unless he breaks out. Byram will be 2-4m depending on his play this season and when he signs. Signing him rn could save a lot of money.
