Evander Kane isn't worth that much money. He's obviously a solid offensive player, but he's terrible on defense. If you want a guy who can score goals, you can likely get him via trade or even free agency for a much cheaper price. However, we always seem to get fooled by players with high shooting percentages, so honestly, I wouldn't even doubt that something like this could happen. Other than that, 6.5 million is too much for Darcy Kuemper, the Strome signing is pretty good, and the Puljujarvi trade is really awful value for us.

yes you are right there about every you just forgot to yes if i am Strome and Yamamoto i would say they would be going to arbitration to see what kind of money they would get . because he is giving Strome the same money he got on his last contract Strome would be up around 5 million year . and Yamamoto would be at 3 million a year , Strome would be a 5 year deal worth 25 million and Yamamoto would be a 3 or 4 year deal worth 9 million on 3 years and 12 million on 4 years

Dont listen to Isles fans that think Mayfield is the next ORR. They also said they weren't trading the 13th pick for Josh Anderson and got zero offence from Romanov who's a top4 ceiling at best. Thats the equivalent of giving up a 1st for Hakanpaa.

The 2nd round pick is more than enough for Mayfield if they want to take a run at Gaudreau. Giving the possiblity of a 1st plus plus is ridiculous

1) Nobody said Mayfield is Orr. What we have said is that he is worth at least a 1st round pick based on prior deals for David Savard and Ben Chiarot. He is a RHD on a steal of a contract and elite PKer. Those don't grow on trees.
2) Clearing $1.45m will not land us Gaudreau. You are starting with Bailey/Varlamov/Beauvillier. Mayfield is not even in that conversation
3) Guess what? We didn't trade for Anderson. Romanov is at least cost controlled, young, and fits a huge need on the LD. We just got our Dobson pairing for at least the next 5 years, probably more

Take the 2nd out and take Bailey back and I'd think about it.

Anderson > Romanov by a ton. Had you seen Romanov for 13OA ACGM, before the trade happened, you would have flamed it. Everyone agrees it was an overpayment by a lot! For a defenceman that doesnt produce any offense. That was every Isles fans take in Anderson and you got a black hole of offence from Romy
