    Lol OKAY, no problem.

Then don’t trade him if he’s so great? You and all other oilers fans on here try to move him in just about every post you guys do. Wonder why that is.

Ok than keep the better player - notice it’s never canes posts that have Necas for Pulj swaps, always oilers ones.

Puljujärvi from what is said doesn't want to play in Edmonton because he wants top 6 minutes. That is why the trade. I would absolutely love to keep him.

Well he would hate it in CAR then so trade doesn’t work regardless of value.

Yeah and he’d be out of our top 6 so the trade still doesn’t make sense..

His lower games played in the last previous 2 seasons were because of injuries but he was 100% the starter when healthy. But hey if you want to run a waiver wire goalie as your starter I have super exited as a Flames fan

Should we go after Campbell who played one full season as Starter? Or to bad Husso (who also played almost 1 full season as starter) (to late for Hussu)
    Who would you go after?

No idea but I do not think Comrie has proven himself to be anything more than Scott Wedgewood caliber

Lol ok I’ll bite - out of the last 10 canes acgms, 3 include trades with the oilers. Out of those 3, 2 include trades for Pulj. Out of those 2, 0 include Necas going back.

But sure, every canes fan wants to overpay for Pulj who can’t even put points up playing on McD or drai’s wings. Not to mention how poorly your FO has managed him throughout his career and this season causing you to have no leverage.

Might the Canes be interested in him? Sure, to play third line at a reasonable cap hit after acquiring him for 2/3 pick. Let’s not act like the dude is world class.

You could still sign Comrie but I if you want to take a risk on a goalie trading for Blackwood has the best odds of being a legitimate #1.

Lol. You got a chuckle out of me. If EDM had the defensive game that the Avs do, then I'd be all for it, but they don't so it's an interesting strategy

But Blackwood has only played 1 year as starter and a .892 sv%
But yes he is another option

If he was world class I would be asking for more than a 3rd line player.

Can ask whatever you want, it gets rejected immediately. Necas stays put or gets packaged for an upgrade, end of conversation.

Blackwood is 25 and has played 3 years as a starter. the previous 2 seasons he was the clear starter, this year he was as well until he got hurt (plus missed games due to not initially getting the shot)

No he’s not, not for the canes. We need impact players who can score and make plays for others to score. Not more possession heavy forwards that don’t actually contribute in the score sheet. Analytics and underlying metrics are great but it’s very clear what the canes need more of and it’s not Pulj.

So once again, keep who you think is the better player. Idk why you feel the need to jump back in if you think Pulj is better and don’t want to trade him for Necas. Most canes fans also don’t want a Necas for Pulj trade so enjoy your day!

    Smith in Net
    Game 1 .760
    Game 2 .900
    Game 3 .929
    Game 4 .857
That is a .861 average, which is worse than an AHL goalie

A decent goalie would have made a big difference.
But I bet you don't recall how bad the Oilers goaltending was?

Smith was playing injured, so much so that he likely isn't going to recover in time to play hockey all next season. So there's that.

But if you look at how Colorado performed against each team they met in the postseason, only one really challenged them at 5v5. Here are Colorado's stats in each series:

    vs NAS: 59.66 xGF%, 62.69 SCF%, 56.58 HDCF%
    vs STL: 59.84 xGF%, 62.93 SCF%, 62.89 HDCF%
    vs EDM: 53.28 xGF%, 53.03 SCF%, 46.07 HDCF%
    vs TBL: 60.57 xGF%, 60.20 SCF%, 56.73 HDCF%

As for Colorado's vaunted defense, here's how many high danger chances they allowed from each opponent:

    NAS: 9.95 HDCA/60
    STL: 6.89 HDCA/60
    EDM: 15.06 HDCA/60
    TBL: 9.00 HDCA/60

    Again Edmonton is the anomaly.

Here's a look at how the two teams performed down the stretch, from Feb 10th through the end of the regular season:

    Record
    2. Edmonton: .724 (38 gp)
    8. Colorado: .662 (37 gp)

GF - GA = goal differential
    Edmonton: 3.82 - 2.76 = +1.06
    Colorado: 3.38 - 2.76 = +0.62

    SF - SA
    Edmonton: 34.8 - 32.4
    Colorado: 34.8 - 33.2

    Net PP, Net PK
    Edmonton: 21.4%, 87.0%
    Colorado: 21.4%, 82.8%

There really isn't much daylight between these clubs.

Smith was playing injured, so much so that he likely isn't going to recover in time to play hockey all next season. So there's that.

But if you look at how Colorado performed against each team they met in the postseason, only one really challenged them at 5v5. Here are Colorado's stats in each series:

    vs NAS: 59.66 xGF%, 62.69 SCF%, 56.58 HDCF%
    vs STL: 59.84 xGF%, 62.93 SCF%, 62.89 HDCF%
    vs EDM: 53.28 xGF%, 53.03 SCF%, 46.07 HDCF%
    vs TBL: 60.57 xGF%, 60.20 SCF%, 56.73 HDCF%

As for Colorado's vaunted defense, here's how many high danger chances they allowed from each opponent:

    NAS: 9.95 HDCA/60
    STL: 6.89 HDCA/60
    EDM: 15.06 HDCA/60
    TBL: 9.00 HDCA/60

    Again Edmonton is the anomaly.

Here's a look at how the two teams performed down the stretch, from Feb 10th through the end of the regular season:

    Record
    2. Edmonton: .724 (38 gp)
    8. Colorado: .662 (37 gp)

GF - GA = goal differential
    Edmonton: 3.82 - 2.76 = +1.06
    Colorado: 3.38 - 2.76 = +0.62

    SF - SA
    Edmonton: 34.8 - 32.4
    Colorado: 34.8 - 33.2

    Net PP, Net PK
    Edmonton: 21.4%, 87.0%
    Colorado: 21.4%, 82.8%

There really isn't much daylight between these clubs.

As I've heard for the past few years regarding the Avs, none of it matters unless you win in the postseason.

Francouz .916 through the Edmonton series. If you cant see the difference between Francouz .916 average and .857 Smith in the series, than I cant help you and am at a lost for words.

Kuemper had a 0.898. Smith wasn't great, no, but don't blame this entirely on him.
