This team is good now but in 5 years when niemela is in Vancouver’s top 4 and we don’t have miller we will regret making the trade. So stop doing it

Wait what? Consistently puts up 99 pts? He had one 99 pt season (this past one. Highest before that was 72 and he is consistently in the 40s or 50s.

He is great though!

The thing with Kuemper is his injury list is on par with Campbell's

Yes hes better and yes he won a cup but hes only played 2 50 game seasons in his career and especially this playoffs he got hurt twice and in some games did not look good.

Also giving him that money and term to me spells disaster

Would rather pursue MAF

Leafs are in win now mode and will still have some good young pieces. You need to trade good pieces to get good pieces.

I think they start with Anderson, Steeves, McMann on 4th and 5th lines. If they need to upgrade mid season they will. All 3 of those guys have been doing well in the AHL and deserve a shot.

YA MAF is my number one target. (He actually was last off season also. I thought MAF, half retained made WAYYY to much sense last offseason. Instead they got Mrazek. Which I didn't love.

Vegas didnt want to retain on any MAF trade which was why he was dealt to Chicago

If Mrazek didnt get hurt got a feeling we would have got the 0.910 guy who took Carolina the furthest out of any goalie they have had

The retention last summer would have been a 3rd team. So Vegas still got off the entire cap. I was giving up around a 2nd and 3rd in terms of value to make it happen. Some going to Vegas and some going to the 3rd team. Instead Vegas got nothing for him.

Chicago wasnt planning on trading him though and Vegas had no plans on doing that so its done

They just wanted out of Fleury and a 3 team trade would have complicated things

Logic was flawed but Dumping him was quicker than waiting for a 3rd team

Either way he wasnt coming to Toronto unless it was a direct trade and we didnt have the cap to take on 7mill

What is everyone's obsession with MAF. He is a 37 year old who isn't even a proven winner.

Fleury despite being 37 has shown he is still a good goalie

Hes won 3 cups with the Penguins took Vegas to the finals in their first year, and won the Vezina last year

And still managed to have a 0.900sv on 2 lesser teams

So....

Yeah thats a proven winner lul

He was only the starter for 1 of those 3 cups lol. And the cup he won was 10+ years ago where he put up a .908 sv% which isn't even good.

He has also lost the starting job in the playoffs many times in the last 8 years.

There are a multitude of better options for rn and for the future

There really arent any better options

Husso = unprovenb
Campbell = maybe but no
Kuemper = long term mistake

Trade market

Gibson = a gamble

So no there really isnt anyone better lul

Fleury's resume surpasses everyone's rn
