I would say red wings accept, but girard might not be Yzerman’s style. I also feel like a lot of people will say that’s really low value for girard

Yes a large group of Detroit fans would do this but I can't see Yzerman doing this. With the LHD prospects Detroit acquiring Girard is spending assets to get something we don't even know if we need. If Yzerman moves a couple of 2nd rd picks I'd have to think it would be for a center that has the potential to be a 2C.

But I don't think Colorado gives up Girard for 2 2nds.

I don’t think it happens either. I think it’s floated out there because next year 29 is gonna need north of 10 mil

the things is you can just trade him when the prospect are ready if they ends up reaching their potential. right now detroit LD depth chart is all just question marks. would be a smart thing to do this trade and if at some point you dont need girard anymore, you just trade hom later and probably just get your investment in picks back once you trade him, pretty much what happened with leddy.

The thing is that we can do that with all the alternatives too. Pettersson, Schmidt, Martinez are all also tradeable when no longer needed and they're a whole lot cheaper to acquire.

It's an interesting offer that needs to be seriously thought about. Girard is a good player but a lot more expensive to get and we do have loads of prospects on LD.

Allen’s value is probably around/just over a 2nd round pick as a Habs fan. You’re gloriously overpaying for him tbh

true, in my book might aswell get the better d and be competitive and eventually get a return on your investment. the wings pipeline is already full of talent, i understand not wanting to give up first round pick and top prospects, but 2 seconds is reasonable and wings fan deserves sooner than later a team that tries to win instead of tanking every year. i think now is the time to make moves like that, but i underatand your point and thats just my opinion.

The thing is that while we do have a whole bunch of prospects on LD there are other positions where we're desperately short, notably centres and right shooting RWs. Those 2nds could be used to help remedy that problem.

Holland left this team in a sorry state, very close to run totally into the ground and there is still a lot of work to be done to turn the franchise into something that is capable of winning another bunch of cups. It may not be the correct time to start spending picks just yet. We do need to get better but we also need to restock our prospect pool otherwise we'll just turn into another Edmonton or Buffalo.
