2 cap dumps for a young RD?? I don’t think so

That bottom six is a tad expensive though, granted the guys it includes are all solid workers with great compete levels. I’d be worried if they could provide enough complementary scoring though. I feel like that could become an issue if the top 6 goes cold.

Nils was our top ranked prospect last season, sadly he was saddled with Nemeth for the start of the year and needs top 4 minutes/PP to be effective. He destroyed all of Karlsson and Hedman's under 20 records in the SHL and could be useful for a team losing Klinberg. You had Dobby buried, you just signed Wedgewood and pretty sure Oettinger will be back, so yes that is a cap dump.

Sadly I don't see Nils getting a chance here with Fox, Trouba, and Schneider. He is going to be a solid NHL player, if he reaches his potential, trading him will be a huge mistake, which is something the Rangers have tended to do over the years with prospects.

Nemeth sucks, no doubt about it, which is why he is coming with a sweetener. Steve Kampfer and Marc Staal are far from upgrades, Nemeth just didn't work in NY, as have many defenders before him and may will not after.

Marc Staal probably isn't returning, And Steve Kampfer is our #8 Dman, And more than likely Jake Walman is our 3rd pairing LD right now. I'd take a 2nd for Nemeth but not a 3rd. Considering that Nemeth still has 2 years left on his deal.

That is up to Kravstov, Blais and Rydahl (who besides being physical and having an edge, supposedly can score). Rangers really need a checking line, if they had one in the Tampa series that could have shutdown the Stamkos line, who knows how that series ends. Tampa had one line that just continued to score, the Rangers had no answer. Gallant should have used the kid line more and double shifted MIka on the 4th line to get him favorable matchups, but I don't see Gallant learning from this, so best to create a checking line IMO.

Honestly no matter how anyone slices it they over achieved this season. They’ll likely regress next year, especially considering the amount of talent they’re going to lose throughout the lineup. All this run will do is make them foolishly trade picks, prospects and younger players on the roster for veterans in an attempt to make a run for the cup. I have zero faith that management has learned from the fiasco that were the 2010’s, which seemed like we didn’t know what a prospect or draft pick looked like. Combined with the awful player development that occurs and our inability to develop high end forwards, I think we’re screwed and doomed to repeat the 2010’s, meaning a very good team, but not a great team that can get the job done and win the Stanley Cup. Maybe I’m wrong and they surprise, he’ll I’m looking forward to that day, but given the people at the top (Dolan, Sather who still lurks in the shadows and Drury) I’ve got my doubts.

I completely agree that I am very concerned with what the Rangers will do with our skilled young forwards, particularly Chytil, Kakko, and Kravstov (as Drury already messed up with Kravstov twice). This problem goes back way further than the 2010's, Rangers moved Amonte, Weight, and Marchant for quick fixes to win a cup. Winning the cup was great, but that team was very old and had no youth to inject. That trend continued with the horrendous Marc Savard trade and that just off the top of my head. Drury made great deadline moves, but what he does this offseason will make our break the team for the next few years. Is he going to overpay for PLD and create a team that will need to be broken up in 2 years? Will he sign a Nick Paul to center the 3rd line, and promote Chytil, Laf, and Kakko to the top 6? Will he sign Stastny as a stop gap, and anyone who thinks Stastny will play 3rd line so Chytil can play on the 2nd line is delusional. Or will Drury lock up Copp or god forbid Strome, blocking Chytil which we all know will lead to him being traded. Up to Drury to break the cycle, sadly not sure I see that happening after getting the ECF, I expect the Rangers to go all in or better or worse.

As discussed above, seems like it would take a 2nd rounder. I am okay with that, if the Wings aren't I am sure there is another team that would be that isn't on his modified no trade.
