Never mind the on-ice value -- you think that the Islanders, with Noah Dobson to resign and 4 other slots to fill and improvements to be made but only $12 million in cap space, are going to add $2 million to their cap and assume the obligation of paying Gallagher $34 million over the next 5 years?

The only thing I did here was see if the trades had picks.

Montreal has 14 picks, the draft is in Montreal, they will either move up more in the 1st (outside of their own obviously) or use those picks to add. I can't see a scenario where they actually keep all those picks and don't make noise in their own arena on draft day.

Honestly, I don't like the thought of acquiring Ellis. He's good when healthy, but he's played +/- 240 less games than Petry and he made the pros only one year after him. Staying healthy/being available is just as important as any skill. Also, everyone is talking about Petry's contract and how bad it is, but that Ellis deal is going to be even worse real soon.

As for Gallagher, I doubt he gets moved unless he has a heck of a bounce back season. If I could see that he was unable to keep up with the pace of the game last season, I'm sure pro scouts and GM's around the league also noticed.

You can have Collin White for free in like a month there is like a 99.99% he gets bought out

That's the general idea. Getting rid of Hoffman.

Ottawa has been there, done that with Hoffman. They paid a team to take him after 4 consecutive 22-29 goal seasons. They'll happily buyout White and not have Hoffman...

Does Petry have a NMC? I thought I read that he had PHL on his no-go list. Also, as someone noted above, is Ryan Ellis even going to be able to play this upcoming season? Don’t know enough about Luke Tuch, but I think the Flyers org was looking for more out of Ratcliffe, so if that’s a swap of “projects” then sure.
