Trading 2oa and signing some Veterans

Créé par: NHLfan10506
Équipe: 2022-23 Devils du New Jersey
Date de création initiale: 27 juin 2022
Publié: 27 juin 2022
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
1. Trade for Tkachuk. Unlikely that Calgary moves him, and unlikely that New Jersey trades 2nd overall pick. But MT is one player Devils would likely move the pick for if made available.

2. UFA signings: Going for short-term veterans with playoff experience. Perron probably stays in STL, but could be a good veteran for Hughes line. Has tons of experience and can bring consistency to top line. Vlasic and Stralman on short-term deal (assuming former is bought out). Both have over 100 career playoff games under their belt. If Okhotiuk, Mukhamadullin are ready, they'll slot into lineup and vets to bench.

Do understand the term "extras"

Calgary declines that because Foote and Bahl aren't good enough. You want a power forward go bid with NYI for Josh Anderson

These are two A-rated prospects along with the first #2 pick to be traded in 21 years.

We could add Zacha, Tatar, mid-picks, etc...

Same way you'd make him appealing to the other 30 teams . . . sweetener. . . Pick or prospect. His 3 million (+) expiring contract is not where the Kraken should spend assets and eat valuable cap space.

Mango salary is $750k after bonus.

But we'll pass. Better goalies in UFA pool.

Pretty sure you knew I meant cap space.

Pass all you want . . . Maybe you should trade for Price. He's definitely better and will likely be on LTIR this season, too!

Definitely wouldnt call either of them "A-rated" prospects. Tkachuk starts with #2 and Holtz/Mercer

Flames easily decline there’s a very slim chance they get someone as good as tkachuk with that pick. Gotta add a lot more. Also the flames are in a win now mode so why are they trading one of their best players for futures, this makes no sense for the flames.

Re-signing him makes the most sense. But if for whatever reason that doesn’t happen, trading him for a top-2 pick isn’t a terrible consolation.

“A-rated” roughly means ~top-32 of their cohort. When NHL central scouting puts out their initial draft lists, players are rated A, B, C before they are ranked. A are likely 1st rounders. So the terminology often sticks for players like Foote and Bahl, both solid prospects that aren’t yet full-timers.

Ok so in other words you are basing them off their draft ratings? Foote was selected 1 spot behind Pelletier, do you consider them similar caliber prospects still?

Draft spot is meaningless at this point. It’s just a term to benchmark them against their peers (and one that is used regularly by scouts).

Foote = middle-six winger. Has most of the tools, size, hands, shot but skating keeps off top line.

Bahl = maybe 4/5 dman. Size and mobility give him pretty high floor, but lack of touch, shot probably keep him out of offensive role.

Huh? It’s a number 2 pick.

Hedman, Doughty, Malkin, Landeskog, Barkov…etc

Pretty good chance it becomes a stud.

There is a reason top-2 picks are never traded.

And to me that is the definition of a B+ and B prospect respectively. NHL potential but not projected to be major impact players.

Not to mention neither of them fills any holes in Calgary and in fact actually just join already very deep logjams

If Calgary losses Gaudreau and/or Tkachuk, I imagine no pick or prospect will be enough to fill those holes.

If they want the highest upside future (pick or prospect), it doesn’t get much better than #2 pick, which is the centerpiece here.

Yes, I understand that #2 is the main piece. And I would want Holtz/Mercer on top of that
