contenders don't move good depth guys on cheap contracts like Kampf and Hathaway unless it's part of a package for a much better player or the return is a massive overpayment. Reimer and Simek are not that.

Caps pass - value might be ok but they don’t need Simek and Hathaway is a cheap useful 4th liner.

oh yeah I agree with you, I just didn't want to give him a long-term contract given we already have so many of those. I feel like with offering him a 2 or 3-year deal that still gives him one last chance to cash in on a 5 or 6-year deal for the last big contract of his career.
