Assuming the rumours that they may not qualify him due to price. They fill some holes to help tank with younger players who get a chance.

Why on earth would Edmonton make that trade?

Way too much cap going to Oilers, Muzzin doesn't waive. Shouldn't the Leafs just try to sign Strome if Hawks don't QO him, though I don't know if there is a place for Strome in the lineup.

If Chicago doesn't want to pay Strome why do they take on Mrazek's contract??

People should start making teams with Muzzin. MUZZIN ISN'T WAIVING HIS NTC.

To buy him out if the compensation is worth it to them, the cap hit would be insignificant to them. The other option is to try flipping him

If you want us to take Mrazek instead of buying him out, it will require the 2nd pick + prospect, unfortunately theres no getting around that.

If we are not qualifying Strome, A) we aren't going to want those guys back (picks or prospects in need of a scenery change perhaps) B) sign him in FA

I think you would want those guys back. Duszak is 24, right handed point per game AHL defender who requested a trade cause he can't crack the NHL given the fact the Leafs have 8 NHL D. So he could become a 5/6 guy with strong offensive upside. Maybe even a 4.

Kallgren is 24 and has NHL experience being the Leafs starter for half of last year, put up decent numbers and Chicago currently doesn't have a goalie for next year.

Anderson is just waiting for a chance in the NHL, again stuck behind many people, if we don't trade him then he likely gets a serious look in the bottom 6 next year. Been just under a PPG in the AHL for a few years. Not likely to be much but definitely deserves a chance.

I'm assuming that Chicago rebuilds so these are guys they can give a chance, similar to what Detroit has been doing, trying to pickup undervalued young players or high-performing AHLers and give them a chance in the NHL.

If we wanted Kallgren, we just re-sign Lank the Tank, if we wanted Duszak we just sign him in FA, if we wanted Anderson we would make an AHL trade for him.

If we are allowing Strome to walk, we don't want guys just for the sake of getting guys. Would want them to fit the profile of what KD and the team are trying to achieve. Admittedly I don't want much Marlies so can't comment on these guys though I would suggest that if CHI were interested in them it would be in a seperate move opposed to any deal involving Strome.
