Description
I hate to do it as I think he can be such a valuable player for Ottawa. But if he's not signing an extension then we need to ship him. And he'll fetch a 1st rounder. Make the deal now and flip the 1st rounder for Debrincat.

But Edmonton likely wouldn't. It's an easy contract to absorb for two years for the Sens and they get a bottom 6 RW. Watson will be gone next year, and Kassian provides some additional toughness.

You can get a first without taking back salary anyway. I’d probably retain on Brown to ensure maximum value since he is so cheap anyway.
Rooster a aimé ceci.

Might be. Not sure. But they play similar games/bring similar qualities to a team. As I stated earlier, my preference would be to re-sign him as he's such a versatile player. He will sign a new deal that is similar, perhaps slightly less, than Hyman did. I think a $5 mil x 5 year is not out of the question for him.

Brown is 6-0 and Hyman is 6-1 so it’s minuscule. Brown should get 4 x 20 max imo, but ur probably right about his projection.

I think Lassi is NHL ready and should fight for a spot next year. He'll be a solid NHL right-handed defenceman. I'm sure the draft picks can be shifted around. It's more the overall structure of the deal. I don't know if the Oilers would want to ship out Kassian and/or Barrie to free up some cash.

The more I think about it, the more I like it.... I just did a trade similar to this in my most recent ACGM team, you should check it out and let me know your thoughts. I would still but Lassi down in the minors as they are trying to bring up Broberg for this coming year... Would be tough to have Brober, Bouch, and Lassi on the team all in their first couple of years. And if the future looks hard to keep Lassi or Broberg in the picture, they could be great trading chips.

Fair, but what is the comp here? TDL deals tend to overpay, so when has a .5 ppg mid 6 wing brought back a 1st in the off-season? That’s my fundamental question.

it was a deadline deal, but Barclay Goodrow got a 1st without clearing 24 points. Brown plays a full, 200-foot game that will instantly fit with any team and any coach will fall in love with. High-end penalty killer and defensive player, and can still contribue offensively, even if he has a tough time finishing on plays sometimes. Especially if the Sens retain 50%, all that at only 1.8M cap hit, teams will absolutely give up a 1st for that

And, forgive me for repeating myself, but Goodrow had 2 cup runs in him. IDK how many times we have to rehash all of the details of the TB TDL trades, but I guarantee you the player you’re trying to move is not comparable.

Goodrow didn't have any cup wins at the time though??? "had cup runs in him" is the most nonsense I've ever heard. Is Chiasson a valuable asset because he won a cup once? How the hell do you try to quantify value on "could potentially win cups in the future"???? IDK how many times I need to explain that you're on some weird stuff if you think that's an argument like, at all? you asked for a precedent, and I gave you an example of a player with far less value factors being traded for a 1st+. just because you don't like that it's the example that I used, doesn't mean "won cups in the future" is an argument lmao, what are you talking about.
