Walker, Schultz, Shattenkirk come to mind, potentially even Liljegren or Lundkvist.

Just want to avoid adding another 35+ year old D with term. There's already enough burden in Suter and we're not looking to build another Sharks.

That's fair, although I wouldn't necessarily consider those guys that much better considering their age. Shattenkrik is the only interesting one imo

Jake Allen is a cap dump. Expect to lose an asset to move his contract.

allen is a top 5 backup making a fair salary imo

Oh, Petry is certainly better than them, I ain't questioning that. Monetary and age wise I just don't see fit.

    ?

In order to trade Jake "Cap Dump" Allen you will have to give up an asset. There isnt a team in the league that is going to give you anything for him.

    Understand?

He could be a good defensive centerman for the Avs. It could take pressure away from other lines to shut down other top lines, especially in the playoffs.

dvorak sucks defensivly. id be a lot more interested in evans but not at the same price.

He's getting paid less than 3 million dollars and is a proven 1B Starter. Almost ANY team would be willing to acquire him. Sure, his more than 4 million dollar contract could've been considered a cap dump, but that contract is now in the past.

That's straight up not true. Sure, MTL would probably need to retain salary but he's still a reliable tandem-goalie. Will net them a 3rd rounder easily, possibly even more than that.

That makes sense. I just think Petry could push the Stars into a contending position. That might make his age worth it.

Why on earth would anyone want to trade him if he is a top 5 back up on a good contract?

For sure if they retain they will for sure be able to get a return for him. But at full cost they wont.

I don't see it, unfortunately. We weren't a contender with Klingberg and I wouldn't call Petry better than him.

not sure the habs want to trade him but if they did he's too old for their core so maybe the want someone else. i wouldn't say he's on a good contract, just a fair contract.

Dvorak is actually not as bad as you think. He just looked really bad under Ducharme (as did everybody lol). His defensive game is very strong and his faceoffs are elite. I would probably keep him if we didn't have 4 young centermen and we were going through a rebuild.

What if we throw in Calgary's 1st and a 3rd and you throw in Dumba and remove the 4th?

No. Minnesota isn't trading dumba. Nor do we want drouin. Guerin says no.

I seriously doubt that. Even at full cost they'll receive something for him, at $2,85M he's still not overpaid. It's pretty much what a goalie of his caliber would receive from free agency.

Because the Habs aren't looking to contend. Kind of in the same boat as Dvorak.

I think this actually does work because Drouin at this price is a very low-risk potential replacement for Fiala. Obviously, Drouin is nowhere near Fiala's level but he might be an affordable player to slot into the top 6.

Drouin abandoned his team and has been injury prone. He also doesn't play a two way game which led to fiala getting benched numerous times and dean Evason getting mad at him. A 4th round pick, even though not mad, Guerin wouldn't bring in drouin

That's true, but I think he keeps you in a position where that next piece puts you in that position. The other guys probably take you out of that limbo zone where the team isn't really a close to contending.

Dumba is the better player and plays a more valuable position. It also allows us to move Petry without a downgrade at that position.

    I’d say MN accepts that.

With all due respect, Guerin won't. They hate player's like drouin. Unless dumba negotiations go wrong, dumba won't get traded. Plus people are forgetting dumba can block trades

I agree with you, but I'm not sure if trading the pick is worth it for a team that is rebuilding. I just don't see Dumba in the team's long-term plans. I'd rather keep the pick and save that money to use elsewhere (such as a Caufield extension next summer).

Dumba is 27 and if willing to extend in Montreal actually fits quite well with the rebuild (at least better than Petry as he is 7 years younger)

He can't block trades, he only has a 10 team no trade list and would have had to submit it already (I believe once the contract was signed or maybe once a year on June 15th. I can't remember what the criteria is lol). The question is who does he have on his 10 team NT list, I don't think Montreal or any Canadian team would be (unless he specifically doesn't like the team) because he is Canadian.

The Habs have a logjam on the backend and would probably rather let their prospects prove themselves.
