If there were stronger offers for Chych he’d have been dealt already. Here they get two defensemen who’ll be in their lineup for many years to come. Let’s say the second is conditional and becomes a first if NYR makes conference finals. Not as far fetched as you might think.

Trocheck contract lines up exactly with the Danault deal from last year. Very comparable players.

A bit more than I’d pay for Chychrun. Rangers aren’t really a point shot / low to high system based team so Chychrun’s main skillset (firing the puck on net at all times - he led the league by far in % of team shots taken by a Dman when on ice) doesn’t really fit in NY.

I get it but it’s kinda why I like it. Having Chych as another legit shooter on the PP will create even more space for Mika in the Ovie position. Slot him next to Fox and you have a top tier first pair for the next decade, with K’ and Schneider behind them.

It’s the Coyotes, they’re not known for making the best trades. Getting two defensemen at reasonable costs and a high draft pick for a guy who probably wants out anyway is pretty good. Nemeth obviously sucks, he’s there to clear cap from the rangers.

Why? Was it crazy to have Leetch and Zubov run through pp? Zib, Kreids, Bread, Fox, and Chych would be a lethal pp.

Chychrun isn’t anything like Leetch or Zubov and it’d be dumb to keep Laff off PP1. Chych puts up significantly more low danger point shots on net without screens and wide of the net than Trouba. If you wanted something more like Zubov/Leetch it’d be Jones/Fox
