Really hoping this doesn't happen from a CBJ viewpoint unless there is more coming back to them and this is just the base of the trade. Doubt the Devils like it as it is either.

I like the trade. I just don’t feel it’s a deal that Columbus needs to make. They’re in position to get two very good prospects back with those picks. Maybe if MTL sends something of value their way? But, what would that even be to make it make sense for them?

I can see if Columbus really likes someone at the top, they make that trade. But you're right, they're giving up the most. Maybe Montreal gets the #26 and #33 in play and they get the #6 instead. Columbus gets #26 in addition, while NJ get #12 and #33.

I personally don't see how Montreal gets the #12 for Josh Anderson. The production just isn't there from him in order for me to be willing to pay a mid-high 1st Round Pick for him

If they got back #26 as well I'd be more happy with sending out #6 and #12. Anderson and #26 makes a lot more sense than Montreal just getting #12 for Anderson alone. Jersey would still need more value to them too though. Maybe one of Columbus' young depth pieces like Foudy, Bean etc. and a good prospect from Montreal.

Why would MTL even have to be involved? Just send the 6 & 12 to NJ for the 2nd. And include players from NJ & CBJ if needed. Or 2nd, Boq, Zacha, McLeod whatever for Laine and the 6th? Not saying that I’d be thrilled as a NJ fan but it’s better than the Anderson trash trades from MTL

Montreal is involved beause the rumour specifically involves New Jersey wanting Anderson. It also involves them trying twice last year to acquire him already.

I'm not a major habs fan, I'm only from Montreal, but I could definitely see a team that wants to compete trade a relatively high FRP for him. The fact that he's 6'3 and 227lbs, scores at a 20-25 goal per season pace and played well for MTL in their playoff run last season to me proves he can be worth something pretty good. I don't see think the devils would go for it but then again, stranger things have happened.

I get why MTL was included in the original post. I’m just saying forget MTL and work something out between CBJ & NJ. Anderson is awful and shouldn’t even be considered as far as I’m concerned.

Where is this "Anderson is awful" narrative coming from? Guy has a big frame, scores pretty consistently (obviously last year was a down year for all MTL players) and is playoff proven. Anderson is definitely not bad. I obviously see the appeal in a prospect like Slafkovsky but I think NJ would rather win now and a 28 Y/O proven nhl player is probably better for them right now

Okay okay so your meaning that a player who is big have a good skating ability for is size can score around 20 to 25 goal per season and can perform well in playoffs is awful ? Anderson may not be the most consistent player but he's still good. He's a player frame like Kreider, Mantha and team love to have them around. As a proof many team was trying to acquire him before Bergevin trade for him for Max Domi. Even now there still few thing who is actually trying to acquire Anderson, for you is contract can be seen as lot of money and long term but alot of team see a Big Power Forward with speed who can bring both physical and offense been lock down to them for a good deal and for good amount of time.

People was saying Lekhonen was not worth a first, can they say the same now that we saw what a player in the correct spot can do ?

Josh Anderson is not worth #12 even if he is on the best contract in the league

Why even entertain a person making such an outrageous claim. Josh Anderson is far from awful. There is nothing worth saying to try to convince him otherwise. You’ll lose more than you’ll gain by attempting to reason with a guy like that.
